Extended Merino Leather Care

Will the extended leather on the dashboard crack more easily due to sunlight and heat versus the full?

With extended there is no leather on the dash... thus there won't be cracks!

I've actually considered doing this, but then I was too lazy to take my car to the tint shop. If it doesn't have anything to do with motorcycles or the gym, I ain't got time fo dat!

The only people that can answer this are owners who actually have a car with leather on the dash. The leather dash looks fantastic on the M3 and M4 but I also wonder how well it will hold up over the years.Maybe someone with an old 911 can answer this question, they have had the leather dash option a long time.

As you live in Atlanta if you park your car every day outside on the sun the probability of your dash leather cracking or shrinking are high. I would recommend to park most of the time in the shadow and carry a windshield shade for the ocasions when your car is outside. If you want to not be thinking about this, go with the extended and not the full leather.

You need to talk to someone over in the 5 series forums. AFAIK, this is the first time that full leather has been offered in the 3 series.

Cheers.

Get the full leather, makes the car look different and you feel in a more expensive car.

Dash will look like this.

You actually can buy clear ceramic tint for the windshield that will block the UV rays from the sun. I have this on the windshield of my F15 X5 and love it.

Not sure about GA law, but it's 100% legal in the state of TX, and pretty much a must down here with our 100+ degree summers!!

Use Gliptone liquid leather care and it will be fine, just keep it well maintained and it will stay lovely, supple and soft.
