Any MT cars exepcted Jun 21st?

Just curious if anyone has an MT car sitting at port/VPC waiting for the release date of June 21st? It would be nice to have an in-depth review from someone who currently drive an MT car and it's now only 2w away to the release of the cars. Euro delivery counts as well of course

My 6MT M3 will be in production around that time, although add however many weeks it'll take to ship over to me. If no one has a decent MT review by then, I will have one!

Mine arrived at the VPC in New York/New Jersey last week and it's an MT. I'll certainly give you my take.

It's been a few years since I have owned an MT however, so you may have to take it with a grain of salt

Mine has been at port for weeks now. Happy to provide a review. Although the last m3 I drove was an E46. My comparo car is an STi....so a little bit different level altogether.

I'm very interested to hear your thoughts. One of the cars I've owned which I like more than I really expected was my 2004 STI. I have since owned an e46 M3, (which I didn't like nearly as much) a Cayman S a 997.2 Carrera and my current GT3. Only the GT3 is a car I like more. I really want my M3 on order to be as hard core as the STI I owned 10 years ago, though I know it won't be...

Anyway, very much looking forward to your thoughts. My car won't be here before August at the soonest.

I would guess there is no chance we get the "mechanical," crisp feel you got in your STI, but I have never driven a 1M that this transmission is supposed to be based upon. For some reason BMW is in love with long throws and rubbery feel. I think they think it's smoother and more comfortable to shift that way. That being said, I eventually stopped complaining and got very used to my E92 M3's shifting feel. The good news is that I don't think they could do much worse than the E92, so I'm banking on an improvement. But I think it will be miles behind that GT3 in terms of crisp shift engagement.

I'm a little nervous it's going to be very disappointing in comparison to my 991 that will be driven back to back on a weekly basis. I guess we'll see.

I am in complete agreement. I have the same exact fear. The irony is BMW used to do shift feel as well as anyone. The E30 M3 and E28 M5 were terrific. Has there been an aftermarket solution in the recent past to fix this problem?

Not really. Rogue Engineering and Active Autowerke made short shifter kits for the E92, but you had to drop the driveshaft out of the car and they tended to be noisier. They didn't really do much in the way of improving the feel. They just shortened the throws by about 20%. I'm banking on the opinions of most that the 1M manual is pretty awesome. I know I would hate DCT, so I guess it really doesn't matter.

I'll be sure to keep you posted. I had an '05 STi (stage 2), then the E46, then back to an '09 STi (Stage 2 protune). I'm keeping the STi for track and winter driving - I just couldn't let the subie go. 2 more weeks...

It sure seams a lot of people go from the STi to the M3, same goes for me. The mechanical aspects of it are great, but there are so many things about it I just can't take anymore, especially the cheap plastic interior and the terrible seats (no lumbar support whatsoever). Also the fact that the car has gotten bigger and heavier with same drive train since the 04 models. I installed aftermarket shift bushings and a short throw kit in it which helped a lot, I sure hope there is a similar bushing upgrade option for the F80/82 if we don't like the stock ones.

I drove 08 E92 M3 MT for almost 2 years, and 09 E90 M3 MT for almost 2 years and than
2011 X5M . Just love the MT. I can't wait to compare with F80 M3.

Can't agree more. I love the STi, but it lacks some degree of refinement. My kids can't wait to get "Dad's fast car". And I'm hoping the F80/2 doesn't consume oil like the subie...

Hey Miko...out of curiosity, how many weeks between the start of production and approximate delivery to your dealer?

Mine was "9620 At Sea" on Friday and is expected at my dealer on 16 Jun.

The excitement is growing.
