CQuartz Finest?
Familiar with it? I'm having a complete paint correction done end of May and my guy is touting this as a terrific product, higher gloss than OC and more resistant to swirling. He has big cred from local high end collectors and props from this forum and I am excited for him to perfect my Jet Black once and for all. So any of you out there familiar with CQuartz Finest?? Thanks in Advance.

I'd get Opticoat II if it was available. I use cQuartz since it's easy for the DIY'er. Opti is harder to apply (or so I've heard) but provides better protection and lasts longer (again, or so I've heard from a pro detailer friend in the DC area).
cQuartz doesn't suck, so you won't be disappointed. Is he doing one or two coats? My detailer friend recommends two coats.

I've had both. And they're comparable. Detailers are dropping opticoat because of their weird sales. The price just keeps increasing while their warranty keeps decreasing while the ad material still says "permanent". And when I say comparable, they both give excellent results. Just make sure the paint correction is up to your standards cause future buffing will take the opticoat/cquartz off

I have OptiCoat now, but once that wears off, I'd probably try CQuartz Finest since its supposed to "look" better than OptiCoat.
Or if you really want to spend some extra dough, there's another coating called Modesta that's supposed to be good, but expensive. I don't think there's enough data yet so far |

I have had both consumer versions and think it depends on your goals and habits. To me nothing is permanent Opti-Coat can be washed and topped with a almost anything so if you like to wax your car fire away wax will look great but not last long since it can't adhere to OC. CQuartz prefers to be washed and topped with CQ products. Both are great. Looks wise I have to give the edge to CQ. No wrong answer here.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Dropped the car off this morning with CH Detailing. Picking up Saturday. Will post picks. I am excited to see the outcome because this is stage II of a complete paint correction. First had the car wet sanded to reduce that famous BMW orange peel. Now CH is going to put the wheel to her and 2 coats of CQuartz Finest. Jet Black paint. Gonna have to turn her into a garage queen!
Nah

Cquartz was on the market before Opticoat appeared. It is just that Opticoat is an American product so it caught on faster in the USA. I've only used the original Cquartz and it is fine. I can't imagine either of the coatings being that different.
Cquartz coating does leave some orange peel look on the paint and if you put your finger on it, you can tell there is something on the surface - it doesn't feel like bare paint. But maybe it was just not applied very meticulously and maybe Cquartz Finest is different.

Wait. So you had Connor detail your vehicle OP? If so Connor is da bomb. He did my M3 almost 2 months ago. He actually let me assist him and the results are awesome. He could talk cars all day and very down to earth.

Hey Izzy, he's actually on it right now, finishing tomorrow and I pick it up Saturday. Pretty sure I found him from your reco on another thread. If it wasn't you, it was another member here. Do you ever come out to the Lake Mills Cars and Coffee? I will be there June 1.

I keep planning to go to the C&C and I might pull the trigger for the June 1st affair(Didn't know about it till Connor informed me when he detailed my car). Been busy doing stuff to her. Once Connor was done, I took her apart for a SC install. Add a newborn to the mix and my time is all but gone. Lake Mills is like 45 mins from me so the drive isn't bad.
I've been going back and forth with Connor the past few days about whether I wanna vinyl wrap the car after cQuartz application. Feels like it would be wasted but the stone chips are driving me nuts! |

We put CQ on my fiancé's M and its amazing lol. I literally hose the car off with just water every 4-5 days and the car looks freshly washed. In fact we only wash it once a month unless we go on a road trip or have a meet. We also got the rims done in CQ and it makes cleaning the OEM 19" Comp wheels so much easier from all the brake dust lol.

I'm looking to have CQuartz applied to my new M4. Who does this in the Milwaukee area? The site showed one person that might just be doing it part time, although his work looks pretty good.

Contact Connor Harrison at CH Detailing. Easy to google him. He is based in Madison but comes to Milwaukee often. A top shelf detailer and is an authorized CQuartz Finest installer. Connor did my car and also IzzyGray's M3. You will be in very good hands. On brand new paint the results will be spectacular.

My detailer here had Cquartz applied after I received the car about 10 months ago. Recently I gave it to him for a wash and another Fire Orange m3 was also there, who had Opticoat on it.
Biggest difference was the color. My car looked like it had a more deeper yet brighter orange and gloss was much more noticeable as opposed to his. Nway detailer later mentioned that the other guy now wants cquartz applied though I'm not sure what the process is or if it's worth stripping the opticoat just to put cquartz on. Btw I had opticoat on my previous Mineral White 335.

results!
Oh Yeah. Couldn't be more pleased. Swirls are gone. Paint is a mirror. Half the time to wash and detail. No more waxing. Yes, Dorothy, Jet Black can be perfected!
