I've done one of the BMW beginner driver half days/sampler for $200. (I just wanted to drive the M3). We did about an hour in class exercises and then did 3x autokhana runs in a 125i, braking/abs manoeuvrability tests in a 3series. Then me and another guy got to share an m3 for 20 laps, they had about 6 in total. And then Geoff Brabham took us for a spin and drifted the M3's around the entire track to use up the tyres as we were the last class.
it's no track day but still good fun to thrash someone elses car.

I realise that but it's basically BMW trying to sell you a car. Paying to test drive - even on a track - is like paying to watch advertisements on TV. I don't do that either...
Would you pay to test a phone? A computer? A TV? Anything else someone is trying to sell you? What's different about a car? I know it's on a track but at the end of the day, a company asking me for money so that I can try something they want me to buy just rubs me the wrong way... What if they wanted to charge you $5 for a brochure? Would you say "But it's a colour brochure"? Each to their own though... I'm sure those who do go will have a great time... |

Quote:
- you don't pay track fees usually $170 for half day - don't pay for fuel (at least half a tank) - assuming no license on the day (most have an annual anyway) - plus you beat on someone else's car all day Tyre wear and brake pad wear would be something else you should consider too as they are very expensive and will no doubt need replacing at the end of the day. Plus the biggest thing is being able to drive a decent car like an M235i to the limit and not having to worry about the police and your license. Pushing the car 8/10ths on a track like lakeside is better than driving the car 10/10 on any street IMHO. |

Just got a call about it but my phone died halfway through -_-
not sure if want though. It's not a bad price considering the real costs of a track day, assuming you get a reasonable number of laps... |

I got a call from BMW asking if I'm interested in 2 Series drive day at Eastern Creek on 15 May. Has anyone been to these days? Do they supply M235i or just 220i?
