Smash Repairer in Sydney

Hi Guys,

Someone has backed into my car on the weekend and left a decent scratch/ding in the bumper.

Can anyone recommend a good panel beater? I live Darlinghurst so something close would be good.

These 2 are meant to be the best, In order of my preference:

Panel One: http://www.panelone.com.au

Scientific Motor Body works: http://www.smbw.com.au/

When I had my 350Z rear ended I tried looking for the best place in Sydney, I remember asking Panel One to please fix it and they wouldnt because it wasnt a prestige brand.

If it's an insurance job I'd go with Panel One or Northshore Collision. I've used them both and they are basically 100% BMW focused.

STRONGLY DO NOT RECOMEND ANY OF THE Scientific Motor Body works panel shop
ESPECIALLY the one in Broardways.

They are all dishonest scammers and just want your money or the insurance job.
Took my 135i to see how long it would take for them to repair a Job.. been told 2 weeks and get a free loan car, sweet so handed my keys over. from being 2 weeks to 4 and then 8 weeks. Pissed!
I was also charged $200 per wheel to get them painted- should of know better
After recieving my car back only owning it for two weeks i see a massive scrap makes under the front bar- they tried to occuse me that i have done it.

15 monthes later, decided to get an axle back exhaust.. went to fit it only to realise the mid pipe bolts and nuts were totally dstroy, cross treaded, odd size bolt.

My sister had her golf GTI repaired there after a smash. After maybe 8 weeks we got the car back and there was overspray all over the other panels and windows, horrible orange peeling, didn't paint/fix damage and they put in a used interior door panel. Not usually an issue, with the exception that her car had a black leather interior and the donor car had a cloth grey interior which was highly scratches up...

Scientific is the worst smash repairer in Sydney. I took my S3 in there as I had no other choice through my insurer. They did more damage than when I took it in! 4 weeks for a door spray. NEVER again.

I went down to Silhouette in Alexandria this afternoon, Julian is the son of the owner and he is a really nice guy, he has a 1M himself. He took his time and talked me through the repair and the price was also fair.

I'll keep you posted.

I wouldn't touch SMBW with a barge pole.
I've run my work fleet now since 2007. When I first took over the position we were using SMBW at Ultimo. I was continually chasing them trying to get cars back, it was more often than not 6 week turn around and sometimes it was a quick job before a car went back at the end of a lease.
A couple of times I personally inspected the vehicles when them came back and they hadn't repaired all the damage. Things like small dings still on the vehicle.

I switched to Luton Smash Repairs in 2008 and can't be happier. My turn around has moved to 3-4 days the workmanship is excellent. They did some minor fender bender work on my car last year and I'm very happy. The only catch is they're at Smithfield. My work is located in the Eastern Suburbs and I can justify using them.

Hope this helps. If you'd like a referral send me a PM.
