Vert or Coupe

if you had a choice, would you get the new M3 as a vert or coupe ?

Coupe. No question. Love the CFRP roof! But that's just me. If I wanted a heavier droptop //M car, I'd sooner go for an M6 Convertible. The automatic roof is more versatile but in my opinion, doesn't look very good on the E93 body with the top up. I would have preferred a cloth top similar to the 6-series or E46 even, and it would've been lighter too. That mechanical roof business looks too fussy and belongs more on a 2-seater Merc SL55/65. I did use to have an SLK55 and liked it on that car.

Coupe!

If you asked the same question about the 335i, i'd take the vert. But for the M3 it's definitely the coupe.

Vert:

- weight (+200kg)
- handling (I know it will be much better than other verts but still worse than the coupe)
- no cf roof
- looks with roof up

+ V8 sound with the roof down

Convertible!

I'd definitely get the convertible.

Currently have an '04 330ci convertible and have been waiting patiently for the new M3 'vert. I know there will be a performance hit with the additional weight and resulting center-of-gravity issues for the steel roof and deploy/retract mechanism, but I don't care.

Although I fantasize about the possibility of tracking the car once I have it, the odds are it will probably never happen. I do have a long commute to work (all highway miles) with very few areas of congestion, so I really can't wait to have this car feed my senses daily.
