Better looking? M3 or GTR?
Does anyone else think the GTR is ugly? It almost looks dated already, doesn't flow, has sharp-edges, and hideous GTR badge on the front...
And the black grille somehow makes me think of Zorro... There has been alot of talk about the GTR here, so I'm curious as to what others think about the GTR design. The M3 is beautiful as usual although I'm still trying to get used to the awkward front panel. |

That might be uglier than the Aztek.

Fundamentally the car defies my best aesthetic senses but somehow the overall package works anyway. It could use a little more G37 elegance in it, but its not horrible.

Prefer the M3, that's why I have one. But, the GTR is quite an amazing machine IMO (including looks); confirmed when reading recent Autocar. I wonder how it would have be received in the UK if it didn't have a Nissan badge on it - or indeed wasn't made by a Japanese manufacturer. |

im impressed by the GTR specs, but the car is down right U-G-L-Y!!! the rear is cool(though too fat and chunky)l, but the side looks funky, specially the way the roof top curves and the front is an absolute disaster!!!!! i don't' care how fast the GTR is or how cheap it is, but im getting an M3. Not only are you buying performance with the M3, but your also buying elegance and class, which the GTR lacks! |

Ugh, I don't care how it goes. Aesthetics is a big part of the total experience for me. The M3 is beautifully sculpted and has great lines, and the engine is a real masterpiece.

In my mind the GTR is a demonstration of function over form. In itself that is a beautiful thing!

Keep in mind the GTR is something of a cult car, and is not meant to appeal to the masses (how many are they planning to make?). I'm not saying that means it can/should be ugly. But since it doesn't need to please the masses, it can take some risks. Its appearence builds on the previous versions of the car and reflects the Japanese aesthetic, which might be somewhat at odds with the European aesthetic. It's interior, especially the dash layout and instrumentation, is much more appealing to me than the M3's.

The GTR would have looked a lot nicer if the area where the windshield and front of the roof meet was more rounded, same goes for the back end, a bit too square (could have been a bit more "350Z-like") and I would have liked them to keep the black "nostrils" like on the GTR Proto
Awesome car aside from a few minor styling problems - I'd have one. Above the ///M3, no. |

As to the instrumentation, the MFD is awesome no matter your brand allegiance. |

I've actually been tossing up between these 2 cars for quite sometime- I don't think the GTR will look "old" after a few years- R34 GTRs still look great. What irks me though is its weight.. despite not being as classy as the M3. We all know that frills like seatbelt extenders, mood lighting, etc etc. all add to weight, hence the porky nature of the M3. The GTR doesn't have much of that, yet weighs more (awd driveline partially adding to this). No doubt though the GTR would be a great daily driver.. wish i could afford both |

If you want to blend in then buy the M3, but it you want to be noticed buy the GTR, it's that simple.
Purely on looks, I agree that the GTR is a little awkward looking but in it's defence there is lots of awkward looking supercars out there, the Ferrari 360, 612 and the Veyron, these are all cars which you couldn't call pretty but their looks still work. The GTR in my opinion sits in this group as a car that's attitude suits the way it looks, aggression with form because of function. Needless to say I like it. |

If you are buying a car strictly for how it looks you won't buy either of these cars. No one in their right mind is going to put either car in the same category as an Italian supercar or an Aston Martin.
