I might be wrong, but what you are looking at is an M3 which is fitted with a M5 v10 engine complete with gearbox, it's the steering wheel and CF centre consule what reminds me of a photo from somewhere.

Here's the link

Sorry to burst your bubble but my dealer has told me that at present he doesn't know the official launch date for M-DCT but he's expecting it sometime around the middle of next year.

To light a sentences, I say a year ban from owning an E92 M3 should do the trick, plus give someone else a chance of owning one of the best coupes on the market.

Sorry Mr. Marvelous, but rules are rules.

Speaking of rev limits... is it true the 335 has a 5k red line? I saw a picture of it recently and was a bit shocked since my e46 330ci has a 6k redline.

Nah, I think it's 6k. Maximum power is at 5,800.

Maximum power is indeed at 5,800rpm, but redline is as "high" as 7,000.

Best regards, south

wats the point of having 7k redline.
Probably yes, after reaching the 6k mark the engine feels somewhat weaker...

That might be the redline on the 335d.

Not really, redline on the 335d is under 5,000, peak power at 4,400.

No, that does not mean you should shift earlier.

What it means is that if you take the engine above the max power band range, when you up shift to the next gear you will be in a higher power band in the gear you just shifted into, compared to if you shifted right at max power in the lower gear.

So, if you shift from 2 to 3 at 5900, you have just reached and passed max power in 2 but when you get to 3 you will only be at say 3000 and have to make up the power deficit from 3000 to 5800. However, if you stay in 2 until redline, you will lose a little power from 5800 to 7000, but you will more than make up for it by now being at 4100 in 3 and on a more powerful part of the power band in 3.

That's a long-winded way of sayin you'll get more area under the power curve by taking the engine up to or near red-line for each upshift. This means more power and greater acceleration.

Looks Fake

That pic looks photoshopped to me. The CF fibers in the insert (with gearshift) don't go the right way. Seems like they would have at least tried to match the direction for continuity. Also, the lighting on the paddle shifter doesn't look quite right.

I think changing the direction makes the insert read as a distinct piece instead of blending in. No, it's not P-shopped.
