Headlight washer questions
I'm thinking about getting my front bumper repainted and wondering if I should keep my headlight washers or not. How much weight savings would it offer? People thoughts on the looks of with or without it.

That's it. I haven't torn them apart but was hoping there was enough BS to add up to a noticeable weight savings. If that's the case I'm not even sure if it's worth the headache of messing with it.

I haven't used my wiper washers yet, but I've been wondering what type of mechanism lives beneath those plastic covers. I'm probably not the only person who hasn't seen these washers in action… I found this short video:

According to the BMWUSA web site the car weighs 3373 pounds (without driver). Lets say you save 2 pounds. That's a savings of 0.06%. You be the judge on how that is going to affect your performance.

I deleted mine for looks but knowing I shed about a 1LB is good too. |

If you want to notice any difference in weight, then you need to lose at LEAST 100 lbs. If you want to get rid of them and have clean front bumper then go ahead but you're not going to notice any weight savings, just more of a cosmetic thing that anything else.

Every little bit adds up. 1 pound here, 3 lbs there. Eventually you will knock off some some serious weight.

Obviously OP or anyone else doesnt think a 1lb weight subtraction alone will make any noticeable difference - but after making some of the larger weight savings mods every little bit does add up and it does begin to make a difference. |

I'd get rid of them since they just waste washer fluid. Whenever I wash my windshield, I get kind of annoyed when a bunch just gets sprayed onto my headlights when they were just fine. Not like I have to see through them, I just need light to go through.
