BMW M3 Coupe at the Seattle Car show?

According to this ...

http://www.seattleautoshow.com/2008_bmw_autoshow.html

It suggests the M3 coupe will be available to see at the show. It runs this weekend. That would be a nice surprise !

Odd; that can't be the official US debut, can it?

I'd say it does more than suggest that the car will be there. Odd though, why would BMW debut in the US at such a minor show?

Yeah, ask about DCT!

I just put down my deposit and ended up with the #4 spot in the line. I wasn't expecting that, so I am really worked up about my transmission choice since Spring delivery is very real for me all of sudden...

I've always been afraid of that since Lucid asked for a backdoor...

Anyway here's hope you'll stay, E!?

Best regards, south

Well, I must say DCT is sounding more and more attractive. And, I think I am ready for a change. So is it only E & S then in the 6MT club?

I'm still in!
I keep thinking about DCT, but never get over the hump. I drove the DCT in the GTI and it is smooth, but not nearly engaging enough. Although BMW's implemenation will obviously be different.

Welcome to the fold lucid. However, although I know many others will likely go DCT I feel like I may be the lone member of the unofficial M-DCT club. Well one person is not really a club is it?:sad0147: . lucid, you gotta bail me out here....

S&E vs. L&Sw it is on this one. If one of us admits/confesses that he has made the wrong choice in transmission after a 3 month experience (via some kind of honor code), he will need to do something shameful. Having bought a M3 with the wrong tranmission would be punishment enough, but still...We can solicit other members here.

Optimization

Transmission club: Do you want to see the (further) optimization I have done with the gear ratios on the M-DCT using (ahem... CarTest) before any more decisions or wagers? It is not quite done yet....

On this one Swamp, I will let go of the performance dimension. For me, this one's all about experience, and not so much about function. If DCT provides me with some new kick-ass experience I can enjoy, I won't care too much if it beats the 6MT or not as long as it does not end up seriously underforming the 6MT, which I doubt will be the case. Regardless, let's see your optimization analysis! What's the predicted outcome--4.1 sec?

I am undecisive sometimes. For some reason, I always come back to the MT.

More data is nice but a test drive would be the best. I would like to feel the hard SMG shifts. Perhaps I would be happy with that.

The problem is, if you base your decision on a test drive, you will most likely end up waiting for a few additional months to get it given all cars will be spoken for initially...Maybe you can have your fellow club member S test both in Germany and report?

Good thinking. Also, my pending relocation might have an effect on when I receive the car. Moving away from the dealer I have the deposit with.

You can stilll buy it from that dealer. Or you could do the purchase through them and take delivery at another dealer. Where you moving to?
