She is Mine Now Boys!

Took delivery yesterday.

2014 Space Grey with Full Black Merino Leather and Anthracite trim w/
*Competition Package with 601M wheels
*Executive Package
*Driver's Assistance Package
*LED Lighting Package
*B&O Sound

I am dropping her off first thing in the a.m. with Phil at Detailers Domain for OptiGuard on the body and wheels and Optiguard galls treatment on the front windshield. Phil will also pop in the IND reflectors and side vents for me. Exhaustmeister should be here tomorrow and i have an appointment at AI Design on the 6th for them to install my Bel STiR radar and laser protection and hardwire my blue light (for the fire department).

I had ordered Pirelli Sottozeros to be mounted by the dealership but we had n ordering glitch so I ave a service appointment Tuesday to have them mounted. Given the weather here yesterday, I didn't get a chance to do much "driving", but I did spend some time setting everything up and absolutely love the technology improvements over the E60. I won't miss waiting the the iDrive system to "boot up" every time you start the car.

Now I just have to process my CCA rebate.

Congratulations Andrew! Big difference from the E60. Good luck trying to go easy on it when the road/weather clears up. The torque alone is gonna chew those Pirelli's up. Haha

@DrewM5 AI is a great shop for stealth installs. If you wouldn't mind, please post or PM me photos of your install.

Next time I bring my car to NY I might go there and see if they can do something pretty cool that I had in mind.

Congrats. Nice Spec.

Tell us more about the blue light and what it's used for (emergency fire response)?

Thanks for all the kind words! I will post pics soon, but wanted to wait until (i) I git the IND bits on and (ii) the snow is gone!

I will definitely post pics of the install from AI. Not yet sure where we are going to put the display and control. Leaning toward display etched in mirror and control in the ashtray - I don't smoke and I can also put the blue light switch in there. AI also does a nice pod for the display that they create on their 3D printer (http://aidesign.com/our-work/archive...perties/ID-362). I am not sure it will work in my car without blocking my line of sight to the display. I could also mount this pod on top of the mirror casing. These guys are doing some cool stuff.

Blue light is for the fire department. I am a volunteer fireman (in fact, our entire department is volunteer - not one paid guy) and we use the lights while responding. Some people actually give us the courtesy of getting out of the way, but it also identifies us as we get close to the scene so that whoever is managing the scene gets us in close.

Cool; a legitimate way of driving fast in an M5!!!! What about the fire engine? Is there a volunteer who drives that too? (just curious as I admire your work)

We are all volunteers, drivers, officers, everyone. I have done my 6 year rotation as an officer and am one of the drivers.

This is what I was going to ask AI about for my car.

1. Purchase the Europe light control that is identical to the M5's only it has to additional buttons for front fog and rear fog lights.

2. See if AI can rewire the front fog light button for a mute switch (radar det.) and the rear fog light button for a power on/off (jammers).

In your case you can have one of the fog light buttons control power for the blue alert light.

The whole point: keeping it as OEM and stealth as possible.
