Leaving her cold:/
Now then guys
Going away to Singapore tomorrow for approximately four weeks and the whip will be sitting in the drive gathering dust :/ As I'm an M3 novice, will somebody inform me of the best practice to keep the oil circulating round the engine in keeping it adequately maintained; I appreciate that leaving the engine running idle is not recommended so is the best option to get my Dad to run it round the block once a week? He's scared shitless of the power of the car and I'm worried to fcuk that he might prang it! Any suggestions as always much appreciated! Cheers gang.. |

The only thing you need is a CTEC battery charger and put her on it ! The car started perfect after this period with 0 problems ..so no worries

I work on a supply boat down in the Gulf of Mexico and I'm gone for two months at a time. I don't have a garage so my M is under a cover outside the whole time, I hate leaving it out but I got no choice. I ask my old man to run it once or twice a twice a month around the block and there has been times when he hasn't done it once with no problems. I have had to replace the battery (it was 5 yrs old) as the winters in CT killed the last once, I've bought a battery charger and put that on it to juice it up after I get back in the winter months with no problems. Hope that helps man

I leave my car unattended for weeks at a time and never have a problem yet. Besides the obvious (the car uses the battery non-stop, so it'll go dead eventually), just remember:
It's German engineering! :-) |

Put a battery tender on it, and enjoy your trip. You could also fill the tank up to the top as well.
Deltran makes the same one that BMW sells in the parts dept and it works great. I wouldn't start/drive it. I left mine for three months a few years ago when I went to Europe, and it fired right up and ready for action.

I got a higher end cover for around $300. I have a trickle charger like Mike, but am too lazy to put it on unless I am gone for a couple of months. It IS a good ideas though.

Has anyone had problems with flat spotted tires?? They are pretty low profile so I am thinking it is not an issue but I was checking out the cradles that they make now that you park on to distribute the load.

http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=924073 There doesn't seem to be any consensus. My car is stored and I decided I will just roll the car back and forth periodically as a precaution against flat spotting. |

4 weeks ? Park it and do nothing.
Worst case.. You'll call BMW roadside for a jump, but highly doubtful it will be required. |
