130i must go! X3 or 328i?

Hi Guys,

My one year old son is taking up more space than originally planned and the 130i is getting too small. My thoughts are either an X3 Xdrive28i or Xdrive 20d or a 328i

My inner driver says the 328i, but my practical side is thinking X3 xdrive 28i... and my economical side is saying x3 20d......

What do you guys recommend for a good blend of performance, space and fuel economy? Is the 3 series enough for a child seat and perhaps 2 in a few years time?

Will i get terribly bored driving the X3?

Joe

I found the X3 too small for us, and you can't fit a baby and two adults at the back. If you can pick up the last model X5 for cheap. If you think X3 is big enough - go to a 30d will give you performance and economy.

I saw a new 3 series wagon the other day looked very cool.

We had a current model 320d sedan as a loaner before our X3 arrived. i have to admit i like the x3 a lot better. It's our family car so doesnt get driven as hard as the 135, but it really is great to drive, esp in 30d form.

i think it has plenty of room for us - two adults, 4 and 6 year old. Granny can squeeze in between the two kids too. For our annual ski trip we take a heap of stuff and just use a roof pod.

I would love a 328i but the wife is convinced the back is too small......

Anyone driven a X3 Xdrive 28i? Is the engine enough for the car, or will i need to mod it to get a decent drive?

Garage List
2011 BMW 320d  [10.00]
X3 is not that big compared with the current 3 series...it has the same size as the old E53.
you should be able to pick up a bargain on E70 given the new model is releasing in a couple of wks.
