Power steering fluid - question

Excuse my unfamiliarity. But should there be a warning light that comes on when the power steering fluid is low? Just a bit paranoid because there's a quick grinding sound up front when I turn and steer right or left from a stop or a slow speed - like when parking parallel. Sounds and feels like its coming from the power steering and not the wheels grinding on something because the grind/ squeaking sound only last a second but in intervals. - damn it's so hard to explain it. LOL

I'm not sure about a light, but it's easy to check, just keep the housing really clean before you open it up and check.

When it is low, you get a high piched squealing noise due to the aspirated fluid running in the pump. It is simple enough to check the reservoir though

The lid to the reservoir acts like a dipstick. That's how you check the level FYI

You will not get a warning. Your reservoir has an internal filter. If you run low you are going to suck all the crap at the bottom into your pump. You don't want to do that
