Is now a good time to buy a e82 ?
Hello friends, i have a nice opportunity to sell my 2009 128i and buy a brand new 2013 128i M Sport. This is possible because now that the coupe will be long gone the dealer is offering a huge huge discount in this model...
Would you pull the trigger ? Or this is stupid ? Opinions ? Both are Apline white with coral red ( just love it ) Thank you ! |

What the price difference if you don't mind sharing? That's the main factor. if its even or minimal money to swap, then i'd do it. if it was more than 5-8k i wouldn't go through with it.

If you're going to upgrade, then upgrade (135i). I understand that this new one is an M-Sport and that it has some cool little details and goodies. But it's your money... I wouldn't do it. I don't know what your prices are, but I'd bet for what they're asking for said 128i, you could get into an '11 135i with low miles. Just my opinion, I could be wrong.

If you want another 128, then go for it; it sounds pretty decent.
This assumes that you are happy with the 128 driving experience. I am, and that's why I traded my '09 on a '13 this summer. If you are wondering if you would like the extra power, well, that's a different story. I am always amused by 135 owners who tell 128 owners that they MUST have a 135. Most 128 owners, particularly those with a stick, know what they want out of their driving experience, and for them, the 128 takes care of that. |

I could have waited, but I wanted one more iconic, inline-six motor. And, the electric steering in the F20, likely to be in the 2-series, has been getting bashed in the press.
Plus, it would have been a two-year wait for me. I have always been leery of the first year of a new model. |

It could make sense. It depends on a lot of things, your original ownership goal, access to a independent shop in your area or how much DIY you want to avoid, how you value the different options on the new car, how you value a NA engine.
If your original ownership goal was for the long run, say for 8+ years 150k miles, then you're putting off a lot maintainance for 4 years... There's a thread out there about 100k maintainance, and it's a fairly long list possibly 5-6k in work. |

Who cares how old the "shape" is, so long as one likes it, and especially the driving dynamics (esp. no horrible e-steering).

I have electric steering in my other car, it's not terribly bad. You get used to it pretty quick and it has its benefits in terms of efficiency (less parasitic loss) and low maintenance. Plus I can parallel park that car in half the time it takes me to do it in the 1-er lol. |

30k sounds like a good price but 43k sounds very over inflated. Looking on Auto Trader there are a lot of msport with manual and none even come close to that price.
