Suggestions Anyone

I have a 2007 z4m 17000 miles (garage queen) I took her out for a ride and when i made a sharp right turn I hear a noise in rear?

Is there anyway to correct noise when shifting I was told by dealer its normal because it has a dual clutch? Sounds like a rattle

Will tunning engine do any harm to motor

where can i get info on maintenance due by xxx mileage

thanks to who ever has any input

Need more descriptive information on "noise" from rear. Could be a lot of things.

When do you hear the "rattle" from the clutch? Idle, clutch in, out, shifting?

Video and sound is always helpful...

Tuning? Depends on tune. Go with a reputable vendor. (Note: not that much to be gained there without supporting mods, and gains are minimal as compared to tunes on turbo cars. This engine is already high strung and very high output.)

Quite a few BMW with the S54 engine had done this...first time I had my M, my mechanic asked me to turn off the motor with the clutch in and it made a noise...certain M cars had differential oil issues...so if you swapped it it would reduce the noise in tight corner turns. The rear sway bar would make noises too as it would come loose...the suspension is very stiff and after some miles it would get loose and needs to be tightened.

As Finn mentioned...would be good to post a video of the sound.

sounds like a differential oil problem, since your car has been sitting for a long time between drives. when i replaced my diff oil, i was told to drive around in circles to get the oil "flowing"

also, check your rear springs, they might have broke (they'd make a clunk sound)

DCT FTW

oh wait, that car never came with a dual clutch =(

If you're referring to clutch rattle, that's normal. I think your SA meant to refer to the dual mass flywheel.

Yeah, clutch is normal. Tight circles and that kind of noise from the rear sounds like diff. Same with my car.

BMW came out with a diff oil with a friction modifier booster added that resolves or lessens this problem. It is not cheap and you need 1.1 litres (so have to buy 1.5 as it is in .5 litre bottles.

Thank God my buddy just became a BMW tech, now I have a honest mechanic by my side, it turns out it wasnt the exhaust. My motor mounts were broken.

Best time to get the Vibra Tech motor mounts. They aren't terribly difficult to install, just time consuming. Also having inTgr8r help do it makes it super easy

Is it the actual motor mount, the bolts or both? Glad you found the problem.
