Heat Damaged Dash.
I live in Texas and unfortunately rent and have no garage or form of shaded storage. So for the last 2-3 my 1er has been in the blistering heat with no sun shade (Sure buying one now); and now im getting dash damage.
I was wondering if there is a cheap fix for an issue like this? I can imagine that it will cost over 1k to fix it properly. I thought maybe trying to find a wrecked 1er and buy the dash....

Mine is starting to look like that too. I read somewhere it's caused by some "seals" around the airbag breaking with time. Don't know if it's caused by heat and/or sun exposure though.

Is it like this? Mine has it too, but it doesn't really bother me so I never had it fixed. |

He I have the line (Guess from Airbag) as well. This bubble in the back is very very large and much more noticeable. I am assuming that you got this covered under the under 50k warrenty? There is no extended or anything right?

I had the same thing start happening to mine. Wasn't as bad as yours. I had 3 areas each maybe size of a quarter. My car was originally from FL and I'm in Chicago. Im still under factory warranty and dealer replaced my entire dash no charge. I also purchased a sunshade off eBay to help prevent this in the future

I bought a sunshade... I think im going to ruin the leather and get a very small gauge needle and inject something int here and try to re adhere the leather to the dash...

I posted in another thread about this.
I would look into getting the windshield done with Llumar Blue Air 80 tint. Makes a big difference in solar heat through the windshield glass. Just had the 135 done with it. http://www.llumar.com/en/AutoWindscreen.aspx Might help, dunno. |

I'm in Cali, same deal here. Just happened as soon as I hit 55000 miles. How timely BMW! I was thinking about using a syringe and injecting some sort of adhesive to put it back down also, anyone have luck with that sort of thing?

I contacted a local upholstery shop that has a good reputation and explained the issue to them to see what can be done. Will wait on their response and I'll update here with what they tell me. Last edited by sometorque; 08-07-2015 at 08:33 AM.. |

Just came across this thread.
Spotted a quarter sized bubble on my dash.(2010 at 74k miles). Purchased a sunshade 3 months ago and have since noticed a second quarter sized bubble I think it's time to wrap my dash |
