Canadian M Sport Edition Owners - Blackline Tail Lights
For those of us that have ordered a Canadian M Sport Edition (special edition that started production in March, 2013, built with the "is" 313 wheels) there is some important news.
In the original sales bulletin about this car, they had listed as the vehicle coming with Blackline Tail Lights. Well, it looks like they actually built all the cars incorrectly with just the regular LCI lights, not Blackline. Had my car at the dealer for a couple days to update the Navigation with North American maps after a EU delivery. I also mentioned the tail lights to them. They were pretty quick to agree that the vehicle should have the Blacklines, so they are ordering them in for me. The lights are in stock in the Canadian warehouse, just the wire harnesses have to be brought in as well. Not sure why a wire harness needs to be replaced when they operate the same, but, seems like anything BMW needs a different harness. When the lights and harnesses are in, going back in for the free swap. Guess BMW has finally figured out this error and is starting to fix it. Phone up your dealers and make a request for the change. Also attached is the bulletin stating the car should come with the Blacklines. Quote:

I'm quite surprised that they didn't simply state that brochures have errors and for you eff off. That's what they did with the heated steering wheel / M-Sport option. Brochure, website, and all sales literature stated that the steering wheel was heated, and in no way stated that the steering wheel with the M-Sport option package precluded that.

It is much easier when the parts actually exist.
I don't think they build a M Sport heated wheel. Wish they did, would swap it in a second. |

Definitely don't need a new wiring harness...
I've had 3 different sets in my 135i and 2 different sets in my 1M and always been COMPLETELY Plug'n'Play. |

I thought it was strange too. Oh well, I am not paying for the harnesses.

thats great news if you're one of the few that own a a 2013.
I'd be interested to know (since apparently they have them stocked in the Canadian warehouses ) how much the local dealers are charging for a set. I wouldn't be surprised that even with the S&H + taxes and import duties that it would less expensive to order them online from Germany! lol |

Call the dealer and ask I guess.
They show them as an accessory part, they don't show the price though. http://www.bmw.ca/ca/en/owners/acces...s/content.html |

I've confirmed this with a buddy who has a 2013 135is. Got his originally with regular lci and they replaced with blacklines after the fact (with harness) but you don't actually need the harness. However you can't get the dealer to install them without it.

No harness required...as I put blacklines in my 1M and then the 1M's oem LCI lights in my wife's 135i.

Thanks. My car pretty much looks exactly like all the 135is you see in all the mags. I am located in Ottawa.
Here is a pic of the car with 2 km on it outside the Welt. It also has the Boston black leather with Blue stitching. Last edited by MightyMouseTech; 09-13-2013 at 11:23 AM.. |

Still waiting to hear back from my dealer.
With which dealer have you got your car? E or O?

All I have done to get the 135 ready for the track is do a "1200 mile" service and check tire pressures. |

Just got confirmation from my dealer that BMW Canada will be handling the replacement as a warranty claim. Waiting for the service department to contact me when the parts come in.
