Car wash for M3 convertible?
Hey guys...just a quick question... Anyone with a vert have issues with automatic NO touch/brushless car wash? We've been having rain here in the northeast almost everyday over the past week... I want to freshen up my vert but I don't want to put the time in to hand wash yet with more rain expected the next couple of days. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Presumably you mean with leaking? The 1 time I put mine through a wash to try and quickly remove some crap, no problems with leaks or any damage. I've had more problems with cars with sunroofs.
Cheers

If possible, do Not put your M3 through a auto car wash. The tire/wheel track may scratch you rims, rags they use may scratch your paint etc. I would hand wash it if all possible. Then again, depends how well you want to take care of your car. Some people pamper their cars by hand washing it all the time, some people perceive it as just a car and takes it to a car wash. Chances of damaging your car is much higher at an auto wash.

I used to take my 335 vert through auto wash all the time. However, I would only take it to the touchless wash where you drive in and the thing goes around you doing its job so that there is no chance for rim damage. You get minor drops coming through at the place where the door ends and window begins, but havent had any leaks. Now officially those are not recommended and who knows what kind of long term effect that could have on seals... (I've had my mechanic work on someones 335 vert where he found 12 liters of water inside the rear wing due to deteriorated seal and it caused the rear window lift to fail due to rotten wires) So I'm now rather conflicted about taking my M through the wash, rather wash it myself.

wtf? If you have to bring a roll of towels, you have bigger things to worry about. If I get leaks in my E93, I'm returning it. If it leaks in a car wash, what confidence do I have driving it when it rains?

Well... I went to a no touch auto wash where there were no tracks/brushes etc. the machine goes around the car to wash... The only problem I had w as a few drops of water around the back window seal where the top covers the window edge during the high pressure rinse... I'm a little disappointed that it leaked even a little. My CA and the manual said car washes are no problem.... Guess they haven't been in one to really know. No more automatic washes for me... I don't want the roof liner to rot or parts to fail because of the extra H2O. Hand washes from here on out... Awaiting my order from detailed image to get here so I can start.

No, heck no, never. Apart from the soaps they use being overly caustic on your paint (how do you think touch less gets your car clean?), it will leak. I sold my vert as it leaked even with a minor pressure wash in my driveway. I have owned two BMW verts and will never own another, they all leak where the roof meets top of the windshield at the corners.
