Disa Valve

I had my VF supercharged 3.0 in for an expansion leak issue at an indie mechanic last week and we got to talking about free mods to not necessarily increase HP but generally smooth the sometimes roughness of a FI engine
He mentioned the SAP which is a topic being discussed right now on this forum as well as the Disa valve.
His opinion was that it(disa)is not required on an FI engine and can be removed and blocked off. This would remove the obstruction of the blade and shaft from the intake tract completely.
He has built and raced turboed Supras and WRX cars for years.
BTW he is planting a 2JZ in a 2001 Z3 M Coupe

Anyone's thoughts?

You dont NEED the disa, however it improves power delivery, throttle response, and fuel economy.
On a race car build a lot of people will delete the DISA and VANOS, because when you are on a track if you are below 3.5k RPM your doing something wrong.'

However in real life people spend the majority of their time under 3k RPM and so the DISA and VANOS are pretty good things to have.
