Disappointed at C&C Irvine
I pulled up this morning to get input on my exhaust and they turned me away from the main lot saying new cars in the spectator parking. It defeated the purpose of going if I wasn't able to see the M5Army and get the troops' two cents on my E-Race placement. Anyway I guess they are cracking down because there are too many "STOCK" M5s lol. Here is an article about it with pictures of the M5Army: http://www.drivingline.com/2013/07/r...coffee-irvine/
I turned around to make my 8am breakfast meeting in Hollywood. SMH!

Sorry to hear that Jose. I was able to sneak in at 5:30 AM. They didn't look too happy. I didn't realized we're being targeted. But I did get a chance to revved it up a couple times this morning and reeled in a pretty big crowd. I guess next time I will be turned away since my car is considered not rare enough and completely bone stock. This is ludicrous.

Well - it is their prerogative.
You could certainly volunteer to start a C&C 2.0 somewhere else in Irvine. I'm glad the Nashville C&C has chosen a very large venue (Carmike Theater lot in Cool Springs). Space or preference is never an issue. |

Dude that just sucks. You Cali boys need to attend ours. Even though all cars TRY to park together sometimes it don't happen. But anyone can pull in and park. Generally we all know the ferraris and lambos Porsche corvettes etc try to park at the same spots. But no one had claim to anything and NO car is refused to park at or near anyone or tefused intrance. I showed up at 6:30a and we already had approx 300 show cars not counting looki loos. BMW represented a very low turn out but who cares I was there to have fun as always. The day prob ended w about 450 cars. At night the Beamer guys met up mostly m3 guys about 40 cars but after talking to some they don't rep cc because they say its too hot. Sissy bitches!

Yes, definitely C&C's decision to limit or allow access only to XYZ for whatever reason. And I respect that. If I was told one morning that only 1980 and earlier exotics were allowed, that's cool...but if there was a 2013 RR Ghost in the lot...I'd be pissed.
What does get me going is that the author of that editorial (yes, opinion about his distaste in any group that shares a bond and displays that together) has no clue about BMWs and does no research his writing. Read his article on Bimmerfest. He sums it up with this: "With classic BMW’s such as the iconic E30 ///M3 as well as the latest 2013 F10 M5, Bimmerfest has something for everyone…as long as it’s a BMW." Huh? BIMMERfest. Jon Shafer, if you read this please add a section to the layout next year for Jaguars. Whatever. If he took the time to really look at the cars or ask the owners (who know a ton about the cars, some of us about multiple M chassis, track the cars, etc.) he would see that it is more than just a "crew". Same holds true for the Mustang, GTR, and P-car enthusiasts. An example...I know that at every C&C I have attended there is always an interest in the German, Austrian, and Swiss vignettes on my windshield. These have sparked conversations about what they are and the interest around how it was to drive my M5 on the Autobahn. And folks take pictures. Lots of pictures. Reason? While you can see a 535 that looks like a M5 (because of the M sport package) real auto enthusiasts see the lineage of the M car, and then are struck by the fact that there are 5, or 6, or 7 M5s together.

To me though cc is supposed to be about meeting up w your buds and a place to show the toys and appreciate what others brought. We have so much fun at ours from the ugly beat up vw bug to the most expensive whatever. Not one car is more important than the other.

I've stopped going because of this exact type of mentality. They fail to look closer and make generalizations.
As I've stated before we get a little jaded living in the OC, but compromise is key and having "groups" participate is a huge benefits to the car community. |

Cali is lame as hell, this is why I hate going to exotic events. Id rather see a wider range group of cars then some Lamborghini gallardos. I dont give a shit if you can buy a 250k ferrari, If you have no personalized taste theres nothing to it. Your guys group of M5's was probably taking attention of higher exotics therefor resulting in this. That article was funny as hell. LMAO.

The Charlotte C&C is the same way. We easily had 400-500 cars and all were appreciated. From antiques, to muscle cars, to imports, to exotics, to customs, to tons of BMWs, Porsches, and even 4x4s. We were all there to appreciate our love of cars, regardless the make or the cost.

Wow last weekend looked crazy
Its because of cars like these that suddenly, the M5 isn't special to the event operators.

I have no idea. Was he trying to clown us for not volunteering? Take your car to a more fit place to display, like the swap meet?

Glad I'm not part of a group like that. We have even 335's in ours, it's fully modified and kicks the hell out of even some M3's. So much love has been put in our cars, that's what matters, seems like this event has turned into ... something just stupid.

The rules. The non commercial gathering part is a joke. "No wraps"! No food. Too funny. As I said before, they need to calm down and watch how we do it in Houston Tx. Hundreds of people and cars, no problems, Their coolers and food if they want to bring it, All makes and models WELCOME. I'm tired if writing. Did I mention wraps are welcome. Lol. Cali cars and coffee officials get a life and let down your stiffee. Life is too short. BMW m5 stock or not ftw!.

I plan on still attending as I have been for almost the past 10 years. I know I will bump into this douche and I want to hear him tell me to my face that my car isn't worthy to attend. It seems like every summer it becomes difficult to decide who's in or out but come fall and winter when the weather isn't as enticing, all cars are welcomed with warm greetings. The best way to handle this insult is rally as many M5's as possible to attend and rub it in his face.
What an F-tard!!!
