Wacky windows

I have a z4 m coupe. Sometimes when I put both windows up at the same time, the passenger side will go up and then back down halfway. Yesterday I attempted to put up just the drivers side and it went back down twice. My CPO ends in 15 days, should I bring it in for $50 or can I fix it myself? I think I heard something about a reset?

Now see here.

Don't put the windows up at the same time. For obvious reasons the auto close is very sensitive to obstructions, or perceived obstructions.
When the first window gets all the way up, the motor runs for about another 1/2 second, creating a significant drain on the overall electrical system.
The drop in voltage is often enough for the other window to lose a little torque, think it just hit your dog's throat, and reverse.

Try it a few times before taking my word for it.
In general, to keep you from strangling somebody/thing and suing BMW, the auto-up function is pretty fussy.

I have the exact same issue. I find it odd as well that it does this, especially since my other non Bmw cars have never done this before.

I think the problem is that there isn't a window frame on our cars. But actually I had an Audi TT and a Subaru without them and I don't recall it happening. I was wondering if I should ask for new window regulators.

Window regulators really dont have anything to do with it as far as I can tell.

If anything, you would want a bigger battery.

It still happens to me, but instead of 2 out of 3, maybe once out of 10-15.
Always works on the second try.
Seems more likely if I had the top down and just put it up. I think from being folded, the edge that hits the window might have a residual crinkle or slight displacement.

Had a few cars with auto-down, but this is the first with auto-up.
Totally surprised it has that feature. I would think there would be major liability issues.

I get it very seldomly. Whenever it happens I reset the window by holding down and then up for 5s after it finishes closing and opening.

Great info mine does the same thing. Noticed it more so, after I used gummi pflege on the rubber, think it made the rubber a little sticky where the window meets the rubber.
