Realistic cost of 1m conversion
Hi
I am debating doing a 1m cosmetic conversion on the 1er. A lot of people are now doing but I seem to get mixed answers on how much it costs. Seeing as most replica fronts seem to be around 1k what is the realistic cost of doing the full conversion? Or even just the front conversion? |

My guess out of pocket easily 10-15k in my eyes but I really don't know

A front end conversion would be more difficult than a full conversion.

The 1m widebody front kits are easier, but made of carbon fiber/fiberglass so they are very ridged and have no connectivity to any other components. |

I would just like a rear bumper that looks similar to the 1m I think I've seen a 1m front replica...as much as I would love to do a wide body, I'd rather spend money on other things or just get a 1m lol.

Well I know all OEM parts cost at least 3700 bucks for front, rear, sides and nuts and bolts. Still need to get a stock or custom exhaust and then the cost of paint and body work will set you back around 7500

The front end conversion is rather simple and bolt on. You can mod side skirts if you don't want to do the rear. The rear is the mostly costly and difficult part of the build. Venom, sk8fe and myself built out a pretty extensive part list which I posted a thread on. Personally if you are hesitant about spending the money and are interested more for looks than performance, get the kerscher bumper and skip the wide body. Dmacc's car with the kerscher kit looks amazing. |

I personally think the kerscher kit looks better than the 1m front / 135i rear. However, the performance gains of running a squares set up with the wide front will make the car handle much more neutral. |

No M badge no problems!
Awesome info here. Any other benefits of doing a front only conversion other than ability to run proper front wheels/square setup>?

IF you look on HP Autowerks(aka Harold) webpage you will see the various 1M/M3 conversion packages for the suspension. Everything os pretty much plug 'n play. You just need to order/buy the right parts. Dack

Not to mention the 1m is an incredibly limited production car and quite possibly a future collector. If anyone wants to do heavy modifications to their car it would only ruin future value of their particular 1m. No reason not to do a 1m conversion, It's not posing, It's squeezing performance out of your car and the widebody allows a much more aggressive setup for track use. |

If I had the money I'd do it myself. I'd love to have monster rear tires

I could see it if he had an M badge on, or told people it's a 1m, but he doesn't. He simply went wide body with one of the only options that was out there, and one that can use the available after-market products out there. It's simply a wide-body 135i.
And the claim of posing is even weaker when you consider the fact that it out-performs the stock 1m in a number of areas. |
