Antenna won't come off?

My Z4 came with a stubby antenna ready to be put on, but for the life of me i can't get the old one off.
I just tried applying wd40 to the base and letting it sit and still nothing.

Never heard of that issue before. Perhaps try a heat gun? Or let it sit in the sun? It should unscrew very easily.

A friend showed me a trick awhile ago for unscrewing things. Find a fat rubber band and wrap it tight around the antenna a few time and it gives you better grip to twist the atenna off. Same thing works on jars and such. This might work, or some grip pliers.

It likely wasnt screwed on quite enough in the past allowing a thin film of water to penetrate the thread and rust it. Just give it a good amount of effort.

Soft rag around the antennae (if you want to save the antennae) and then pliers, unscrew it left, it should come off

Otherwise the antennae and antennae base are only attached through one torx screw in the trunk. If the antennae is really seized and wont move at all, you can always replace the replace the antennae base too. Just peel back the carpet in the left side of the trunk and you will see a metal box with a gold/copper colored torx screw in the center. Unscrew all the way, and the box will dangle and the antennae assembly can be removed as a whole unit from the top of the car. However this should be a last resort, I think you are just not unscrewing the antennae with enough force.

I was wondering if you were trying to unscrew the base instead of just the antennae.

If you just try to unscrew the base, two things will happen.

You are going to scratch up the fender.
Good chance you will damage the diversity amplifier that the base is mounted.

Z4inAZ is correct in that the screw is a torx, a six or eight, so I do not know how you unfastened the amp from the base with a socket....unless someone else was in there, stripped or broke the OEM screw and replaced it with something else.

also, my previous comment was about just grabbing the base with some pliers and turning... That would be bad.
