Enlighten me on tail light options

I know there are pre-lci which came on the years 08-10 which is the 3 LED strip design. Then came out the one with the 2 bands that kind of curve up, now what are those called?

And what are black lines I've heard it many times ???

Blacklines = tinted/smoked version of LCI tails
Your best option.

And they are not aftermarket, they are OEM part.

So far I haven't seen a clear tail light option but it would be nice if someone did a hard core clear with white that of course lit up red

Here are some pics of my 2010, 135i. I also installed the LCI Blacklines which are the factory tinted tail lights. The Blacklines are not legal to use in the USA since they have not DOT stamp... but many people have imported the lights thru places like schmiedmann.com

Did they ever make blackline versions of the pre-LCI taillights? I've always preferred the 3 horizontal LED lights as opposed to the LCI L-shaped ones so curious if blacklines of those exist and what those might look like.

Has anyone actually switched from LCI ones to pre-LCI ones? Never heard of it, but think the design fits the lines of the car better.

I don't think there was ever a blackline version of pre lci tails, but bimmian does offer a overlay tint that may give a similar effect for a reasonable price.

There wasn't, I had my original taillights tinted and I loved how they looked with the 3 stipe design but I decied to go for the Blackline LCI and I love how those look even more. Also a super easy insatal and I only waited less than a week for them to come in. Plus for 350 or so which is what I paid I was happy about it.

Ya, I think I like the 3-stripe design over the standard LCIs, but the blackline LCIs I think look the best and seem to fit the look of the car better, accentuating those lines right there with the outlined L's.

I may get them at some point. Would want to see them on a mineral grey first perhaps. Seen on a space gray and starts to get too dark/blacked out for me, but love the contrast with the white and silvers as shown above.
