After installing new battery: Transit Mode or Blown Fuse?
So after recieveing my car 2 years ago it was in transit mode. I had no air conditioning or rear defrost so I suffered the heat for the few weeks of the summer that I was home. The BMW dealer was 4 hours away so I didn't bother.
The next year I went in and got is taken off that mode and everything worked. Over the winter my battery died so I replaced it (not from BMW). I read somehwere that it may be possible after switching the battery the car would switch to transit mode I think. The thing is now the car won't blow hot or cold. I did a google search and read something about a 250amp fuse when someone had problems after switching the battery. Any ideas what would be going on? I have the 2008 3.0si roadster. Kind of annoying! |

Okay, after some more searching it seems that if your battery drops below 12v the car goes in transport mode (i know I said transit before). The weird thing is my air blowers are not working whereas before they did while in transport mode.

I think the best solution is buy a cable and software so you can run diagnostics and program these issues away yourself.
P.A. Soft or the more complex INPA would give you control. At 50 bucks, it's a hell of a lot cheaper than the dealer. |

Exactly what happened to mine earlier this year when the battery died. Took too dealer and had them replace the battery, told them then to make sure it does not resort back to transport mode.
Took her home and did not think about it until I took her out a few days later and none of the climate controls worked. Called and took her back in, arg. Oh well live and learn. Steve |

yeap, winter is especially bad, either you load the battery tender on or unplug the battery completely. Its the process of losing voltage that kicks the car into transport mode. Last winter I unplugged it completely and did not have issue. Previously I went into transport mode for first 3 years (no tender) then I got a tender and I just end up unplugging the battery completely.
