M6 Added

Just purchased an M6 to complement my M5. Singapore Gray with Sakhir Orange! Love that combo

Pros so far
1) sexy looking car
2) better handling and less understeer than M5
3) stock exhaust seems louder than an M5 stock exhaust. May be dreaming though.
5) seems quicker than a stock M5. But since I have a tune on my M5 cant really compare
6) feels nimble compared to my M5

Cons
1) seats definitely not as comfortable as M5
2) interior I prefer the m5 look. The screen placement and look just bugs me.
3) while I like the paddle shifters on the M6. I just do t like the steering wheel look. I must be the only one..hahaha reminds me of a mustang

Thanks to vic55 for checking the numbers and validating the deal for me.

One more thing drove the M6 GC save your money And get M5. Unless you are all into looks

I went from the M5 to the M6 and wouldn't look back. The exhaust is definitely loader ( although getting an E-Race installed tomorrow). I prefer the M6 interior over the plastic center console in the M5. carbon fiber rocks! And u are correct...the M6 handles better..much less understeer...I'm betting the lower center of gravity and reduced weight contribute to that.

Overall the car is nicer. Gets tons of looks, and the carbon roof and full led's really top it off. plus those paddle shifters in the M6 are clearly better. The car feels more exotic in coupe form and sits lower, which I really like.

Enjoy it!

Thinking about going this route in 1.5-2 years and wondering if you were in a lease on your M5 and/or was it painful financially to switch cars so soon. I just leased my M5 last month.

Mine was a purchase and got out of my M5 as a trade assist. Kept braking down.

M6 feels totally different than the M5. How can it not? A sedan vs a coupe...

So I see Vic really convinced you, haha! Congrats though brotha!

I completely agree with your sentiments about the M6 steering wheel. I LOVE the paddle shifters on it, but don't really like the rest of the wheel. Plus to me the buttons on the M6 steering whel are not as ergonomic and functional as the M5 steering wheel. To me it feels more uncomfortable and harder to push the button that I want. I think a lot of people go with form over function when they retrofit the M6 steering wheel to the M5.

You need to bring either your M5 or the M6 on a run with us soon!

Congrats on the new car!

I am about to order my M5. After reading this sounds like I should get the competition package...

If the 2014 M5 with competition package feel/handles like the M6. I will trade in my 2013 for one, but not going for it without a test drive.

Since your tune is a piggyback, can you transfer it from the M5 to the M6?

Pics of the seats. I assumed the seats were the same? Maybe stealth can help?

I'm the opposite. I like the M6 wheel but not the M6 paddles. The problem with the M6 paddles is that they bend when you pull on them because they are plastic and very thin and long. So when you pull the top part they bend. To make paddles that thin and long they should be made out of metal. Bending paddles seems poor quality to me.

This is interesting. If it works that would make this tune even more compelling. It may also be worth getting a friend to take your tuneless M5 into a dealership and asking for an inspection because "he's considering buying this car". See if they can tell it was tuned.

Yeah those comfort seats look 10x better and look more supportive as well. Le sigh...

Oddly enough BMW also makes comfort seats custom designed for the M6, but they aren fitted to US models because it was too costly to homologate them given the low sales volume of the M6. So the current M6 seats are basically 640i seats with bigger bolsters which eliminated the need for rehomologation. I can understand why the US regs would want to regulate seats because it is a key safety component. However I wish on parts like seats they could say - if it meets EU standards that is good enough - would open up a lot more goodies to us like adjustable bolsters and comfort seats on the M6.

BTW here is a pic of an M6 comrfot seats.

Thanks. That Oreo (aka cocaine white) interior is hot!
