Need advise on too much engine oil

I'm not really mechanically inclined hence I need help. My @$#%^ brother poured a whole liter engine oil in the M3 when it's only a little below half according to the gauge. Now the car is giving warning on too high engine oil. I am bringing the car for a track this weekend and the dealership cannot take any appointments until next week. I wanted to know if the right thing to do is to drain a liter. This might be stupid but since the car is pretty much brand new (8000k miles) can I save and reuse that liter that I just drained? =D

Pull the oil filter and suction out the puddle in the bottom of the housing. You can get 6-8 oz. by doing this. If you're still showing high, repeat. You'll only need to start the car briefly to get it filled back up. Much easier and less messy than the drain plug shower!

I wish I had thought of this when my dealer over-filled my M3! Good thinking! Love it!

Or you can drain it from the sump.

Just drain the front sump, most of the oil comes out of the rear sump anyways.

Dont blame your brother you prob woulda messed up regardless. I got an oil change last week and it read 1 QUART low today. So I got in my trunk and took my trusty quart out, about 2/3rds left, and put in a bit less than 1/2 QUART.

1 reading later and it was still below half way! too low! So i put in the remaining 1/5 or so back in and then it was all the way full. No emergency full thank god, since thats how its been about half of my 5 month ownership, but still, was just under being all the way full. You just gotta add in 1/3rds or 1/4s my friend. Thanks BMW

Great Sears and Harbor Freight currently have no 36 mm socket. Is it bad to drive the car about 20 miles to the dealer? =(
