Hello,

I am interested in a 650 coupe. I am in the USA. Does your ordering info have the electric trunk option to select? Curious since there is not one for us. My dealer told me soft close trunk only coming for '14 model year.

Ok. I think your country's model year starts at a different time than mine in the US. Our 2014's started production March '13. Hope you are right about the power trunk, I really want that.

My friend i think you got me wrong, first of all my country also start 2014 production in march, the Idrive will only br equiped on julu production and newer, the trunk option was not listed in 2013 options, but when i read ur post that its available now i asked him and he directly knew it and said yes option 316 so im guessing its available on all 2014 models

Hello,

I think we are getting different information from our dealers. I have confirmed that all USA 6 series are getting the new Idrive 4.2 starting with March 2013 production. My dealer also advised me that the 2014 will also have the soft close trunk as part of the Executive Pkg. No actual option guide out for us yet, so still waiting to see the details.

In my country we dont have packages so we have to have options guides first hand. And having idrive 4.2 does not mean you have touch idrive, for example the 7 series already has idrive 4.2 but it doesnt have the touch knob. July production will have the touch knob thats the difference

Yes good point on the Idrive. We are not getting the touch option this year. Which is also my point on possible differences between standard & available options between countries. You may get get something we don't and vice versa.

Looking through other threads it does seem like bmw adds options mid production year sometimes. So it's possible the u.s market will get touch in June as well.

Yeah, that's exactly what we were led to believe on new Idrive - March. Little did we know they would simply start the '14 model year 4 months early to do it!

My 2014 GC was built in March and does have the IDrive 4.2. I also have the Exec Package but it does not include the soft close trunk.(And I don't care!)

I think that comes in later builds, perhaps July as has been speculated here.

Sorry guys, I will not retrofilt anything that should be included in a $100K car. If it means waiting until fall builds, I will. This deal with omitting the soft close trunk is ridiculous.

I was going to retrofit the soft close doors but didn't think it was worth the cost, I think I will probably pass on the trunk as well.

I will save the money for the dinan upgrade if it ever comes out, might look at retrofitting the new idrive too. I saw some posts of people doing it in singapore.

Yeah, same here. It annoys me, but it's surely going to be thousands of dollars that I most likely won't recover at resale. I also don't want to do it on principle. It should've been there to begin with, and getting it from the factory in a package I would've gotten anyway for a fraction of the price is just off putting enough to make me say screw it and deal. It's the same reason I haven't swapped for shadowline trim. It's about $1500 to do aftermarket, and it is included on all 2013+ vehicles with M Sport. The aluminum trim doesn't bother me that much - certainly not enough to deal with retrofitting and paying all that money for some trim. There's enough chrome/gray on the car that it's an okay accent, albeit less sporty than the shadowline. I have the only 6er coupe in my community in Carbon Black and M Sport, so these fine details don't really bother anyone else either because they're too caught up with the car as a whole.

I can do away without soft close door plus everybody slams the door anyway. As for soft close trunk, I think it should not be that expensive and too difficult to retrofit.

I want to add a few things to personalize this car, but plans are on hold due to problem with drivetrain malfunction. If they finally fix it for good, then I will start adding stuffs.
