Also did you have to have a letter mailed to you or did the one in this thread suffice?

Not sure what kind of tests they have to do after the installation

And the earliest day I could schedule was May 17th.

Bavaria BMW. After Edmonton BMW mis-diagnosed a simple issue (which I predicted correctly during the writing up of the very first work order) that took FIVE visits to get right, I've never been back.

I happened to be nearby and walked in. My VIN, on file, was enough to get the appointment.

As to the length of the service...I have no idea, but as the letter states, its the connection between the battery (trunk) and fusebox (under-dash), which implies to me an entirely new cable run nearly the length of the car.

I'm getting a loaner, so that set me back an extra week, otherwise I could have already been in mid-week this coming week.

Just booked with Brian Jessel but for May. Something about delay in getting parts.

They don't replace the entire cable. Among other things, they cut and splice a longer cable on at the fuse box.

No time limit on safety recalls. But you run the risk of car dying while driving. (Which I do not recall reading a lot of threads about it, yet.)

Well, I am not keen on them taking apart the interior. Hence I am hesitating also.

Hi: I had my recall done, at Serpa BMW, in Newmarket, and 3 weeks later, the radio, bluetooth and all chimes stopped working. I called the service advisor, and of course she knew nothing, and even said she didn't know what a TCU was. I called again, spoke to my original service advisor, and he at least knew what it was, but offered no support. I know there has been a recall on this, but not specific to the 1 series. Anybody have any information? I have no money to throw at a dealer.

thanks,

Jack

If you've got a 2011, why wouldn't the lack of chimes be a regular warranty issue?
