USB Plug, WTF!?

I use an iPhone/iPod auxiliary cable that I bought from Amazon to listen to music on my iPhone, because the BMW one is too short. I used the cable on my M3 and now my M5. It worked fine on the M3 and the M5 for a couple hundred miles. Now the aux works fine, but the USB which charges the phone doesn't. It will repeatedly go on and off while charging the phone. I thought it was the cable's problem, but that wasn't it. Then I thought it might be the plug's problem, so I asked the dealer to look into the problem while getting my 1,200 mile service done. It turned out it works with the BMW cable, so they told me it's the cable. BUT, my questions is, how come it worked of the M3 and the M5 for a coulple hundred miles? Anyone have an idea?

Cables do go bad after a while so it doesn't surprise me.

I just got the iPhone 5 snap in dock and I love it. The big benefit is that it is much more seamless to connect and disconnect the phone. You can do it blind. No fumbling to find the cable, then having to use your eyes to insert the cable into the port on the phone. I love the snap in adapter.

No. I bought it from a German BMW dealer on eBay for EUR222 and then had our Frankfurt office forward it to Miami via inter-office mail.

I guess I can wait, Im still deciding which phone to get. Assuming it will be here soon, or hopefully by the time they release the 5s.

It's not the cable. I bought a new one, and it's the same.

Then perhaps it's the car. Welcome to the joys of owning a German car.

BTW have you tried posting on the F10 forum? There are 10 times as many members and a larger knowledge base there.
