Vortech charger oil change
Hello,
This is all hypothetical at this point and I just want to get some feedback from SC owners about changing the oil (DIY) on your Vortech units. I know the proper way of doing this is to drain the oil from the drain plug, fill it up, check the level and off you go. However, what are your thoughts on using an oil extractor (pump) through the fill hole to get the oil out? Please keep the flames to minimum, this is simply a poll. |

Dipstick is only 2-3" long, and it is on the top of the unit: http://www.superchargersonline.com/i...age=page&id=55
The drain plug is usually somewhere below - like behind the front left of the bumper |

I thought about that too, but I just changed mine, it's very simple, just have to remove the front left wheel, the front wheel liner, the drain line is located there, drain, fill with one small vortech oil bottle, good to go.

I would just use the drain port. That will allow any particles sitting at the bottom to drain with the oil

I just did mine and it really is quite easy. You'll probably want to take off your air filter and clean it when you do your oil change as well so you might as well either go through the wheel well or remove the bumper

This is true.
Unfortunately I tend to somehow fuck up #20's and #23's (diagram) so it seems every 5-6K I am rebuilding the underside of my front end I buy them by the dozen I'm considering a 4" lift kit

I positioned my drain line end so it just peaks out of the wheel well liner, so I could drain it without removing the liner.
takes 5 minutes to change the oil, most of the time fiddling with the little hex wrench
