Video clip of St. Gotthard pass during euro delivery
I have a short video clip I took at St. Gotthard pass during ED which I want to share as the view is spectacular, but do not know how to post it. Could somebody tell me how to do it. Thanks.

OK, I figured it out. Here's a short 30-sec. clip. Pictures were taken at St. Gotthard pass in Austria. The view was breathtaking and a storm was brewing. ED started in Munich where I picked up the car at the Welt, drove to Austria, Switzerland, Italy and finally Southern France (Provence). As can be seen, there was a storm brewing and after St. Gotthard pass, we encountered heavy rains while going through the Albula and Bernina passes.

Thanks for the nice comments. I am still recovering from the ED trip. Soon as I finish the video going through the hairpin turns in the passes in the Alps, I will share them in this forum.

Ha haha. I have the exact same Film Tools / Gripper "Tripod" setup for my 1D Mark IV that I used on my MCB M5 during my ED trip!
The guy I copied, did the time lapse stuff, but I forgot my tripod so couldn't do it. How about some DRIVING video. Here's a clip from my trip: |

I tend not to use a still camera to do videos as they were not meant for that. In fact DSLR's will have a hard time running continously in video mode as they would get very hot; as such will generate so much noise making the video almost unuseable. I did not want to unmount the video camera that I had mounted atop the car. The only recourse I had to capture the scene of the brewing storm based on the threatening clouds was to take individual photographs to string into a movie. Besides, my Nikon D3 is not capable of making video.

I didn't notice any heat problems, but it was chilly out. I don't have a video camera with a wide enough lens, so I thought I would go for the DSLR approach.
You did a lot of Alpine passes that I did not. Would love to see your video when you throw it together. |

Usually, manufacturers limit DSLR video recording to less than 30 minutes due to 1. WTOITA restrictions to avoid DSLRs being classified as video recorders (which would incur a 5.4% duty), 2. Most DSLR use the FAT32 file system thereby video files will be in chunks of 4GBs. and 3. DSLR circuitry (big sensor, big photocells, etc.) which is prone to the problem of overheating when the DSLR is run continously. DSLRs have more pixel resolution than needed; HD video at 1080p only needs a sensor size capable of 2Megapixels (1920x1080p) that even a low end consumer point and shoot camera is capable of.
