Extended Warranty Purchase Experience
Everyone's situation and needs are different but I chose to purchase an EW now for my 2011. Since it is an M I wanted to make sure there was no ambiguity when it came to genuine/OEM parts and BMW service and no lengthy pre-approval requirements. That pretty much dictated a BMWNA warranty.
And since mine is not my DD I went with the highest time (7 years, or 3 years beyond in service date) and lowest mileage (70,000) package available. And finally I mainly wanted to cover power train components even though I seriously considered additional coverages that included more electrical components since our cars have a few, ahem, electrical parts. So maybe Murphy will be good to me beyond 4 years... Bottom line: BMW Powertrain Plus 7/70k. Got pricing from 3 dealers - there was a wide spread - and the best deal was from Steve Thomas BMW (forum sponsor). Very reasonable. Thanks GOLFFRR! All handled by email (I did have to get a key read from my local dealer which they printed out for me). I am sure pricing and dealer circumstances change daily but I do recommend getting multiple quotes and def recommend contacting GOLFFRR. Hope this helps some of you. |

I would prefer it from BMW, but I found the aftermarket is priced significantly lower.

The sucky thing about it is there actually isn't that much mark up in them either. Thanks BMW

I also got a few quotes, with Steve Thomas BMW having the best price.
GOLFFRR assisted in getting in touch with the finance guys and everything worked out great! Thanks again, GOLFFRR! |

Congrats on the warranty. Sounds like a good deal. Is there any deductible associated with this warranty?
FWIW tho the 'lengthy pre-approval process' is probably only that if you go with a bad company. EasyCare has approved everything for me in the past within 24-hr on my Audi and now the same w/ my first claim on the BMW. One of my Audi claims was upwards of $4500. |
