right pocket vs left pocket
I am not sure if it was always this case, but I noticed when I have my fob in my left pocket, I get unable to sense key message vs if I have the fob in my right pocket, no problems. Anyone else having that same issue?
I am not a big guy, and no, I will not post a pictures of myself, so don't ask |

I get this error every now and then too. I guess it could be a battery problem, but my car is less than a year old and the error started fairly early on. The times I saw the error fall into three categories: 1) when I try to start the engine, 2) right after starting the engine, and 3) right after stopping the engine. It's pretty random, but so far it hasn't caused any real problem. When it won't let me start, I only need to lock and unlock to clear it.
Left vs. right pocket is an interesting theory. I always keep mine in the left pocket and I've wondered if the iPhone in the same pocket might be causing some kind of interference. |

lol. thanks guys. I needed the laugh. I know it is a stupid thread, but it was just pissing me off. I wasn't going to say anything as its been happening for a while, but when I saw the threads today, I decided why not.

With comfort access, owners have the comfort of knowing whenever their hands are full the fob won't be recognized. Yet, if you're washing your car from 15 ft. away with the gentle mist from your garden hose splashing near the handle, the f*cking locks go off like a pinball machine.

The only way to fix this is to purchase a right-hand drive M3. Well, either that or put the key fob in your right pocket. I'm not sure what I would do in this situation...probably move to England I guess.

I don't think I've ever put the key in my left pocket. Comfort access works great

Never had a problem by leaving the key in my left pocket, to be honest, since I bought the car I don't think I've ever actually inserted it or kept it in my right pocket.
