I have serious doubt about the accuracy of this review. 0-60 in 4.5 sec. That's the worse result I have ever seen.

Insideline is actually a very credible, non-biased publication. The test metrics are always higher in an absolute sense vs most magazines even though on a relative basis between cars, they come up with same rank order results (e.g. M3s tested by insideline test in high fours even though everyone else has them in the low 4s). What most people don't realize is that most magazines use a 1-ft rollout, do several (10+) runs, run in different directions, try different/multiple launch techniques (with MTs, eg. various RPM launches), tend to test in colder weather, and chose the absolute best (or average of 2 best launch times) runs. Insideline testing philosophy is doing a couple of basically mashing the pedal (both with traction control on and off) or light rev launch to simulate real world coniditions that you will likely encounter vs absolutely perfect conditions. If you have ever done instrumented tests on your vehicle, your times will most likely be much closer to Insideline's vs. C&D, MT, etc.

Actually I think the review is spot on.

The manual should be slower than DCT. I don't think 4.5 is that slow.

This M5 is luxurious but fun factor is gone.

I love mine. I have a GT3RS so I know what a fun car is. I think this M5 is the perfect blend of comfort, luxury and balls. It's fun in it's own way. I do agree with the steering modes. The sport plus is just heavier which does nothing for feel.

I had same exact comment when i picked up my car on 9/12, The steering response in sports plus just make the steering wheel heavier and nothing else.

I don't agree with the review. I always have an ear to ear smile when driving mine.

I mean it isn't an Ariel Atom, but the Atom is not a car I would want to drive on the streets.

Everything "wrong" with the F10 M5 was more/less Audi and Mercedes before. Now that BMW has decided to focus more on luxury, the playing field is as level as ever. Now some may argue journalists claims/reviews but reality and question becomes, how much better is a "soft" BMW over Audi and Mercedes? We could always depend on BMW for the driving and could care less of the amenities which is why many picked the BMW as the winner. Now that their philosophy on cars has shifted a bit, it's hard to pick BMW because it no longer has that one factor that stands out.

Personally, I think Audi has done a way better job of upping performance than BMW has done shifting more to luxury which is why we find most people choosing Audi's current line up over BMW.

Now with the ATS finding success (at least with the journalists) and the ATS-V and new CTS-V expected in the near future, BMW has a lot of choices to make. Forget the (R)S6 and E63, we know the CTS-V will be gunning for the M5 and if that also finds success, I think BMW will be under a lot of scrutiny.
