Rear View Mirror Programming

Hi Guys,

Cannot get the rear view mirror to work, but i think it got programmed.

there is what i did:

First i press and hold the 2 outter button (1 & 3) for 20 sec.(it flashes quickly)

I press number 3 button and hold together with my existing remote , it blink slowly and after 30 sec it flash quickly.

i let go both button on remote and mirror.

when i press the mirror button number 3 it does not blink and stay a solid light. (which i conclude it is programed)

but no luck the gate does not open.

what cause it not to open.

thanks for all info.

I've had some difficulty getting my garage doors programmed. I was able to program my gate without issue, but the Genie garage doors are proving to be a challenge. I didn't have an issues with my E60.

Go to the Homelink website for instructions on difficult coding situations.

I remember a thread a while back about BMW only supporting older versions of HomeLink and some door openers using HomeLink 4.0 (aka Security + 2.0 or something), which isn't backward compatible on the receiving end? Not sure if this applies to the M5 and your door combo, but if so, there's a box that will receive your signal an retransmit it in 4.0 to your garage door opener. I think it's even free from either HomeLink or whoever makes your door opener for people affected by this.

EDIT: Found the thread: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=633792
