Best car I ever owned.

Somewhat sad day Sunday as I sold my 2008 e92 M3. I ordered this car new and it was one of the first DCT coupes. When I hit 1200 miles and did the service I took it to the track. That was my second track day. Initially this was the car I was not going to modify but I did AP brakes, Akrapovic full exhaust, two sets of Volk wheels, and went through 3 suspension changes ending up with
AST 4200s.

The suspension and brakes really transformed the car and I crept up from D group to C to B and the to A group and then instructor in training in BMW and PCA. This year I attended approx 25 days of driving events and was amazed at how capable this car can be, especially with a half decent driver.

But I am getting older (63 years old) and want some other driving experiences. So I am moving on to an almost new 2010 Porsche GT3RS. I drove one of these on the back roads near the track and it is an entirely different experience. Will be a real challenge but I have the off season to practice.

The good news is I sold my car to my good friend Aaron who is a hell of a driver. At the Ridge Motorsports Park in Shelton on Saturday we both had times in the 1 minute 54 second range which I do not believe has been accomplished by other e92 M3s. Aaron is an incredible driver in that this was the second day he has driven this car on the track.

So my erstwhile car is just a mile down the street and I will be able to see it perform. My new car is being shipped from Ohio. Still visit this forum daily as I have for the last 4 years.

The title of this thread make me smile, especially when coming from someone experienced, both in life and at the track.

Best of luck.

Congratulations and I am envious. I rode in a GT3 RS4.0 at a track recently. The cars are just incredible.

I like your mentality, never too old or too young to enjoy fast cars or racing car-like behavior. I like a 911GT3, but priorities are taking precedent.

GT3RS is a truly amazing car and it is best experienced on the track, so I hope you get her out there.

My next ride will either be a 997.2 GT3 or a 991S, we'll see in about a year or so.

Best of luck in your GT3RS! Now whenever I see one on I-5 I'll presume it's you.

Sad to see you leaving the stable Carl, but you will love the GTRS! Like you said, it is a completely different animal.

I remember reading about this car way back when the M3 was just launched. So glad to see it went to a good home and lived a great life (so far). Congrats on the GT3RS!

I'm just slightly faster than my good friend Phil in the V10 R8. He does, however, gain back some on the straights. Fantastic car as is the M.

Congrats indeed on your new ride! Great to hear about how much you enjoyed your M3...can't say enough about this piece of engineering marvel.

That is a nice upgrade!

Saying goodbye to a car that you enjoyed is never an easy thing, but at least you know where it's going. Please enjoy it in good health, and don't be a stranger around here.

Great writeup. Glad you're M3 was loved and has gone to a friend rather than a dealer. These are very hard cars to replace, and regular Carreras don't get the job done for me.....but the GT3 RS, well that is an an amazing vehicle. You have good taste.

Congrats and thank you so much for the info and insight you've provided, especially in regards to suspension Great car isn't it? But doesn't sound like you're downgrading
