Cobb Stage 2 FMIC tune with stock IC in cold weather
It's starting to cool off up here in Canada so I decided to give the Cobb Stage 2 + map a try even though I'm on a stock IC. This map is incredible, the car felt really strong and drove like a champ!
My question is since I have the stock IC am I going to run into problems with this map or should I be ok since the outside temps are cool? My oil was sitting around 240 after 1.5 hours of highway driving with some spirited runs along the way. |

There is more to an intercooler than the out temperature. Cobb and their tune can assume an aftermarket FMIC will have a lesser pressure drop, for instance.
It would be better to ask Cobb than post here, but I would tend to suggest against running one of their maps if you do not have the required engine modifications.

I would suggest using ATR to take the OTS stage 2 map and add some timing rather than adding boost. |

What's cheaper, repairing the motor if something gets damaged or buying a FMIC? I would invest in one, especially seeing you like stage 2. If you hear from COBB on this please let us know what they say. GL

I'd also advise against running stage 2 maps without the proper mods, get an intercooler.

Better safe than sorry as others have stated. But the DME will protect the engine and adjust accordingly, when needed.
Only damaged engines I've read about on here were meth related fires and loss of oil to a cylinder on steep road course turns.

can he maybe run a stage 1+ intercooler map if he doesn't track the car at all and just juices the throttle here and there, with a stock intercooler??
i'm curious about this |

Guys, please don't do this. We list recommended vs required mods in our map notes for a reason. We are only looking out for the safety of your car.
If you want more power with your modifications, consult a Pro Tuner or use ATR to create your own map. The OTS maps are specifically designed for the mods listed in the map notes. -Josh |
