Recap of my euro delivery experience

Day 1
i only had 4 days in Germany and wearied to pack as much in as we could. I went with a buddy of mine, Eddie. Our journey started on 8/29 when we took the redeye flight to munich from new york. We arrived 10 am on 8/30 in munich. First on our list was to hit the Nurburgring. We previously reserved a rental car from the airport but out car was not ready so we got upgraded to an E92 M3 with competition package. So our first experience on the audobon was a lot better than anticipated considering we were suppose to get a VW golf. The M3 was awesome. the DCT was very responsive and gives you a lot of feedback. i was pleasantly surprised by it because i was going back and forth about getting my M5 in manual. i ended up getting the DCT and I'm glad i did. i'd like to just say that german roads are amazing to drive on. not even the slightest imperfections and the drivers have total order. everyone follows common sense rules. when there is a posted speed limit everyone obeys it but when you get to an unrestricted area you can just get on it. We got out M3 up to 150mph and the car could of kept going. my only complaint about the m3 is that when you get up over 90 mph the road noise is pretty noticeable.

We finally arrive at The Ring about 5 hours later. We reserved a VW scirocco thru rentracecar.de. This should be a must do for every car enthusiast. We each did a few laps. By our last lap we started to get a feel for the track. Definitely will be doing this again in my life. The icing on the cake was that we saw a F10 M5 coming off the track. his name was Toby and he is a true track junkie. he has a track prepped M3 but that day he decided to take the M5 out, which is normally his daily driver. I think he's on the boards as TobiasMUC. He was kind enough to take me for a lap in the M5. that was the highlight of the ring for me. first off this guy can really drive. secondly this car is amazing. the car was completely stock. he had the non ceramic brakes and haven't noticed any fade in his track history with that car. the car felt like power was more than adequate. it is on the hefty side but manages it very well on the track. i guess it helps that Toby knew the track so well.

Day 2

Day 2
The next day we spent in Munich. We woke up early to go to the Welt. We had our plant tour at 11:30am. The Welt is a beautifully designed building. When we arrived we checked in at their premium lounge. All the people who are picking up cars have access to the lounge. they serve food and drinks all free of charge. in the lounge you also get a great view of the delivery floor. We hung out for a bit and then attended the plant tour. i don't have any pics of the plant since camera were not allowed. We met a lot of cool people on the M5post forum this day. it was really great hanging out with you all. Especially Sam and Amy(cmhsam),Glen(tigumz), and Ahmad, not sure of handle on the boards.

After the tour we went to the museum across the street. very cool place. very well designed and executed. every room had a different feel and a different story to tell in BMWs history.

Day 3 the day has finally come.

Day 3
This is the day that I have been waiting for. I order the car as soon as the ordering guide was released in May. I got an alpine white with sakhir orange interior and anthracite trim. the only option I added was the 20 in wheels. The delivery floor was filled with F10 m5s. i think all but one of theca's on the floor was an M5. My delivery consultant was Rudy, great guy. he explained everything to me as quickly and concisely as he could since he knew i wanted to get on the road. The delivery is very dramatic and after experiencing this I don't want to buy a car any other way. BMW makes it very difficult to not fully embrace their product and culture after this experience.

After the delivery we went drove to Salzburg in Austria. Beautiful views of the city from the fortress above the city. For those of you planning to drive to Austria, a warning to you, they take there driving rules very seriously. you need to purchase a tax sticker as soon as you enter the country and also need a reflective vest in the car. We got pulled over for a random check. Luckily we had everything. No tickets or fines.

day 4

Day 4

On our last full day there we really wanted to just drive. The weather in Munich wasn't great so we decided to drive south west to see some castles. We went to see the Neuschwanstein castle and took A95 there and then on to Alpine road. had a good 20+ mile stretch of unrestricted audobon and then some nice twists leading up to the castle. Before heading back to Munich we stopped off to wash the car and took some more pics in front of the Welt.

i will write a full review of the car when i get it back stateside. so far the car is everything i hoped for. the only surprise to me is how big the car feels. makes it hard to park. but other than that is perfect. its going to be a long month.

The car wash was on the way back from the castles which isn't that convenient if you're in Munich but there is one right around the drop off area at the airport.

Very cool. I'm picking mine up on the fifth, and we plan to head over to Salzburg right afterwards as well. Where did you stop to buy the sticker?

Stop at the first has station when you get into Austria. They sell the sticker and the vests. I would suggest you buy the vests at the BMW gift shop. They sell them for the same price and it has the BMW logo on it. Makes for a cooler souvenir. I didnt see it until after going to Austria.
