Confusing I-drive settings

I have set my settings to M1 but it seems to change after stop and go driving! The Dealer said in M1 the DCT would shift to 2 gear then it becomes manuel after that? Then when I shift back to D it goes back to Manuel on it's own. And by the way the M1 display disappears from my display! What am I doing wrong?

I noticed M1 go into manual to but when I shifted to D I believe it stayed in M1 . Question is why does it shift into manual mode in the first place? I wasn't expecting it nor did I want it to go manual.

Were you in manual at the time that you last edited your M1 settings?

Don't believe so . I was in M1 and in drive then when I stopped at a stop sign and accelerated next thing I know is I am winding out in 1st gear . Surprised me to say the least and I immediately shoved the selector to drive. I don't understand the programming which is in the standard setup . I didn't mess with it.

Maybe I don't understand you correctly, but you can program either or both M buttons on the steering wheel to start in auto or manual.

Double check under the Settings options in Idrive and remember you have to press the M button twice to confirm if you any of the stability controls (MDM on, DSC off).

It should remain on D. I have both M1 and M2 on sport and sport plus and it always remain on D even on stop and go. I think you are doing something wrong...

I'm having a hard time comprehending this question. You want to press the M button and then drive around in Auto mode??

The paddles are there for a reason

I figured out what I was doing wrong . I was configuring M1& M2 while I was in park and I drive will not let you select D for the Dynamic Drive setting in the M screens when you are configuring it unless you are in Drive ( foot on the brake of course). There maybe other ways to do the configure for the dynamic portion, But this is the way I got the system to allow me to get out of the Sequential menu option. This is probably as clear as mud. Sorry for that.
