Cobb 4.01 Map Drive vs Sport

Based on my testing it seems that Sport and Drive calibrations (at least on the latest 4.01) are reversed. It is indicated as well in the notes (on the Cobb device and in the notes: Sport indicates increase in power while Drive indicates “significant” increase in power. With sport ST or LT I get little increase in power while Drive ST gives me a major kick in the rear… Can someone confirm this as well or am I just crazy? I have done multiple tests as well with blind passengers (not knowing what map I have just asking them what feels faster) all saying Drive is faster than Sport.

PS: Aggressive ST is the best in my opinion... I need to go down sometimes because of fuel (93oct) constraints.

Thanks in advance awesome product and V4 kicks major butt… At least Drive and Aggressive (sport not so much)…

Whoa....did not think about that, but I haven't even tested let alone logged 401 drive. I've been on sport 401 for about a week now and it drives quite well, i'll do a few pulls in drive tonight or tomorrow to see what my butt dyno thinks. I will say this, the V4 maps seem stronger than the V3 maps for sure, not that the 3.01 maps were weak or anything.

And why are you not running aggressive? If you have 93 octane that should be OK, assuming cylinder timing and AFRs are in line.

Yup,

Aggressive is the map of choice however here in Canada (Quebec) we only have 87,89,91 and 94 (Petrocan only has 94 and not in all stations so I get sometimes stuck with 91).

Also for winter (not relevant now obviously) I drop down from aggressive... Thanks for testing out the Drive Vs Sport as this is driving me crazy! Again Drive Stock Throttle is I think the fastest after the aggressive maps...

I'm going to give it a little test drive later today, but as for now Cobb's website seems to suggest that Sport and Drive have NOT changed since V3 mapping. Via their "maps" page

DRIVE MAPS - Daily driving map with nice bump in power. Stock rev limiter.

SPORT MAPS - Sporty map with a healthy performance increase. Raised rev limits.

AGGRESSIVE MAPS - Maximum power and torque. 93 octane fuels and above. Raised rev limits.

The sport maps are more aggressive. They run higher boost and more timing advance. Here are the load and timing tables for stage 1 V401 drive and sport, If you're having sever timing corrections on the sport maps i could see where drive may feel faster, however without datalogs it's impossible to say for sure.

I guess it could be the case... Would I not have the issue with Aggressive though? Any recommendations on what to log to troubleshoot?

I mean for me Drive ST is kick butt... I cannot put the power down on my new HP Conti's, power sliding with no issues. Aggressive is also crazy fast and then Sport is just ho-hum (specially the Linear Sport)... What gives!

When loading the maps on "Tune" page (on the AccessPort) read the text and confirm that it says under Drive Map "Significant increase in power" and under Sport it says "Increase in Power"... missing the significant. Maybe I imagined it (twice) but I also noticed it on the software on the PC. Yes the website and notes say when you mentioned but I was looking direct on the access port for this.

Tnx again.

And OP, several people have felt similarly about linear throttle mapping, though it delivers power much more like an NA platform, you miss that growing surge of torque that is so characteristic of forced induction. I know when I first messed around with LT maps, I also felt the car was "slower" even though the actual numbers were virtually identical. How the power is delivered can have a huge impact on your butt dyno.

Im ordering my AP soon which maps have the most "kick". I hate the NA feel i miss the huge turbo lag of my sti where it would just slam you into your seat at around 3500rpm.

The V401stage 1 aggressive ST maps are your best bet. Assuming you have 93 of, coarse...

Anyone have 0-100 or 0-60 (whatever applies in your country) in terms of the various maps? It could be a good thread to start unless already somewhere and I missed it...

Can someone chime in on the smoothness between Cobb Stg1 Drive and Sport Maps?
