Big up to ///M
I managed to put the foot down in second gear today. No traction issues.
Maximum respect for the ///M engine engineers. This car is an absolute beast. I could not believe how quickly the car accelerated. It absolutely blew me away. And the sound ...... |

hi Aussie, great to see, but what's changed, as previously you were losing traction quite frequently.

Yes I was losing traction quite a lot, and still do. My best guess is that on this day I was already rolling, the tyres must have been warmer and I was in a straight line. It all just hooked up perfectly. It was really quite impressive.

Keeping the rubber on the road is definitely the biggest learning curve with the beast. You drive with traction control fully off at your peril!

Wet roads...
It's worth mentioning that on good pavement, first allows you to put a tremendous amount of thrust to the pavement. In these cases, wheel spin is not uncontrolled, but there is enough slip to invoke traction control if it's active. FWIW I believe everyone who drives (M5 or otherwise) should learn to control the car in a track environment with all driver aids off. Learning to lean on traction/stability/braking controls is a recipe for disaster should the system fail or get switched off. |

At least we know the Michelin PSS is one of the best out there to handle all the torque... but I wonder how many miles the rear wheels can last even with traction control on?

The M School costs $1400. $1200 with a CCA membership. You're spending $100k on a car. You can afford to pay yourself.

fair enough. however I think if they threw it in with the M Cars, it would be impossible to get an appointment for the M School. It is already booked out until next year. Who knows how far it would be booked out if it was thrown in with the car.
