BBK vs Stock Painted Capiler : O Advice?
Yep. I said it. I'm thinking about painting my stock calipers.
This is my reasoning - I don't plan on tracking my car often.. maybe a couple of times a year, if that. So do I really need to spend 4k + on a bbk? I'm concerned about looks, not performance. Since the stock brakes are pretty ugly.. are there any other viable options that won't cost me thousands of dollars? |

Painting stock calipers will look ugly. 4K for a BBK... where? Maybe a used set unless you are talking front only.
It's your car so do what ever makes you happy. Don't let us decide how to spend your money .

No. You could try those caliper covers.

Been discussed many times. Looks worse painted than if left stock.

There's a reason BMW painted them black...to hide them...because they are ugly.

Didn't some special edition M3 come with red painted calipers?
There are too many special edition so I don't remember exactly which one but I do remember seeing one with nasty red painted calipers. Personally I hate caliper paint. It give me "poser" or "wannabe" BBK impression whenever I see it. So go all the way (BBK) or nothing.

I painted mine yellow with my IB m3 and GTS wheels. If you paint them correctly, they will look great. Mine are smooth like OEM and I even added the vinyl ///M logo to it to finish off the look. Many people compliment it.
