Carbon Black 640d Gran Coupe M-Sport
Had a fantastic afternoon with the awesome 640d Gran Coupe courtesy BMW.
The 640d is a #epic engine - loved the rumble and the acceleration. The 6er interior is by far one of the best I have seen after the 5GT - but you need to spec it correctly for maximim effect. Still a couple of notches under Jaguar but getting better. A lot of standard spec - Ambient lighting, Stop-N-Go Cruise, Heated Memory Seats, Bluetooth+Prof SatNav+Advanced Telematics/Internet. Interestingly the SE offers a lot more customisation potential and I would actually pick the SE over M-Sport for this model only. ... and you dont want to forget to tick Surround View/Reverse Camera as this beauty is LONG. Turns heads as it goes, among Jag/Audi and BMW owners alike. Last edited by SpokenHands; 07-03-2012 at 08:01 AM.. |

The rear leg room is fine and comparable to a 5-series, not as generous as the 7-series or the 5-Series GT (my usual ride).
Head room is a bit less as the coupe roofline swoops down, it is really a 4+1 strictly, i wouldnt want to be #5 in that mix. Boot is generous and nearly comparable again to 5-series but with a narrower hatch so not sure if it is super practical if you want to do airport runs and stuff but could easily get 3 golf bags in there, no problem. The interior is straight out of the 6-series so one of the best that BMW do, though I still think the 5-GT is very luxurious for materials and design on the inside. What blew me away is the 640d motor - the acceleration and sound is something else, if i stayed with this thing, there is no telling how quickly the points would add up on my license. But like all BMWs, its all down to how you spec this car - it looks great in ceratin exterior colours and interior trims, and there are some options you just gotta tick. Noticed the standard options not as generous as the 5-Series GT or 7-Series. |

Very nice...I have seen two GC's one in carbon black and one in alpine white and on both occasions I initially thought they were coupes! Im guessing the car was supplied Rybook?

I have a 640d coupe and I think the standard spec is pretty good. I specced a few things including DAB radio and the only other thing that looks really cool was the HUD. Sure there are lots of other options that are desirable but don't add that much to the car.

IMHO the 6er Msport is already well specced – in hindsight I’m missing keyless entry and should have ticked comfort access too especially on the vert. Otherwise DAB, HUD and comfort seats are a must also love the full cameras. I’ve got but not used Park assist yet I don’t know how to! Love the Ali trim and standard stitched dash and the standard Dakota leather rather than nappa (had nappa on previous X5 did not wear well on seat bolsters).

Can you take pics of the rear seats? Im interested in seeing how the middle seat would look like! Is it an actual seat?

I saw that the 0-60 time for the 650xi GC is, according to BMW, 4.3 seconds. That's 0.4 faster than the 2012 650xi and only 0.2 seconds slower than the M6 coupe - astonishing.

The rear seats ofte GC impressed me compared to my expectations. Beeing exactly 6 feet I had all the comfort I could ask for, in front as well as in the back seat. I would say comparable with the F10, only slightly more intimate due to a lower roofline and a huge centre console.

Looking forward to read a serious comparison test.....
