Hi everyone

I've been noticing a faster tire wear on the outer edge of both front tires. The photos show the front left one. These are the stock RF, with 19,000 miles on the odo. I don't do hard driving and the car has not been involved in an accident, only the usual potholes encountered occasionally.
Is this a normal wear for the mileage ?

I've been reading posts recommending the Michelin PSS as an option. Anyone knows if these will last longer ? Thanks !

That amount of wear on the outside edge of the tire looks really odd. I did a number of track days last summer with a completely stock car and only had some minor rolling of the tread edges.

Is it the same on both sides? Does your car handle normally? I wonder if an alignment might be a good place to start before putting new tires on...

The car handles normal. In cruising, driving wheel is centered and when you take your hands off it, the car goes perfectly straight....

They look like you are driving hard. Since you're not, it could be you need an alignment.

Wow, those tires look rough. The metal threads will start to show in a few hundred miles if you don't get it fixed soon. I've seen tires like that from guys who hit the track, but since you don't I'd highly recommend an alignment. Looks like you have positive camber and your toe might be off too. If you're looking for something that lasts longer, all-season tires are the way to go. Any summer performance tire will give you additional traction and grip but not a lot of tread life. If you want best of both worlds, the PSS's are the way to go.

Anyone else have roughly the same experience on the outer edge of their fronts wearing about the same. About to replace the originals at 26700 mi. Car gets a fair amount of hwy miles (approx 50-60 day) and has never been tracked.

My concern with the alignment is that I had an encounter with a fully intact semi tread back in August and the body shop had a lot of issues getting the car back in alignment and ended up not being able to get the left side completely back there even after knocking the pins out of the shock tower. The surprising thing is that it was the right side of the car that took the brunt of the impact when I was unable to avoid running over the tire. The wheel was bent and was replaced along with most of the underbelly shields and splash guards. Kind of wondering at this point if BMWs alignment specs are off or if there are 1ers out there that aren't and can't be put in proper spec.
