I cannee ope ma wee Z4 bonnet!
Today my warranty runs out and guess what, I can't open my bonnet!
Talk about irony It takes about 20 attempts to open it, when I did get it open I oiled the mechanism up as best I could but no improvement. Is there any way I can open it without the lever and adjust it or do I have to replace the cable  (Hoping someone knows the answer) |

It happened to me once... & since then it's OK.
On mine I think it was because I closed the hood too gently; (set it down & pushed) I think this was too little force to completely set the latch. I let the hood close from about 20cm (drop) & no problem since. BTW this for the M with double latches.... so if it applies or not.

That's crazy man. It may be the cable or it might be the latch itself. I'd see if you can get a look at the latch it may be that the cable just came loose. If you can get it open...try and close the latch with the hood open and have someone inside pull on the lever. You might be able to see the problem from there too.
Hope that helps.

Dang it, that word "bonnet" always gets me thinkin about the top of the car for some reason...
no wonder, heck it's number nine on the freakin list. bon·net [bon-it] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation –noun 1. a hat, usually tying under the chin and often framing the face, formerly much worn by women but now worn mostly by children. 2. Informal. any hat worn by women. 3. Chiefly Scot. a man's or boy's cap. 4. a bonnetlike headdress: an Indian war bonnet. 5. any of various hoods, covers, or protective devices. 6. a cowl, hood, or wind cap for a fireplace or chimney, to stabilize the draft. 7. the part of a valve casing through which the stem passes and that forms a guide and seal for the stem. 8. a chamber at the top of a hot-air furnace from which the leaders emerge. 9. Chiefly British. an automobile hood.

Yeah, well... a hood in British terms refers to the top of the car.

There I was throwing my best scottish acent too.
I sprayed the springs on the latch, accessed via the engine bay once I had it ope, another option would be access via the kidney grilles |
