Video of a guy crashing his car while weaving at a DE

Have you guys seen this video - looks like a DE in Germany. The driver is trying to get some heat into the tires on the warm-up lap and ends up in the wall, LMAO!!

I see this all the time at DE's, kinda of annoys me even if you have Full slicks.. doing that won't do much for you, take a couple of easy 60% going on 80% laps, and you'll be much better..

Yep, just goose the gas and brake hard. That is the best and most even way to get heat into the tires.

It doesn't look as cool as weaving

Why am I not surprised to see that this guy is driving a Camaro. That is a Camaro, right?

Yes, it was a 4th Gen Camaro. Remember it's the driver not the car.

My comment was directed toward the "typical" Camaro driver, not the car. Just trying to over-simplify and stereotype, that's all

Yeah, the Camaro driver is trying to figure out if the horsepower or the torque caused the accident.

Maybe consider opting for something with a little less horsepower

the reason you see pros on TV doing this is that in cars with a lot of camber, like most racecars, the tire can be far more evenly loaded under turning than braking. tire loading under braking can actually be pretty poor in many racecars. that said, this is neither a racecar nor a race. just a d-bag who doesn't understand that what he's doing, even minus the crash, is only taking away from the upcoming performance of his street tires.

The driver taking the video is not wearing a helmet so if this is a DE it is probably a lead-follow parade lap, which makes the accident that much more embarrassing.

It was probably a "tourist drive" held at Hockenheim. You do not need a helmet - although one is recommended. Just like when you drive at the 'Ring - a helmet is not needed.

Wow, it would be downright reckless to do the 'Ring without a helmet Pretty cool that they allow it though - maybe they trust people that they know what they are doing more than we do Stateside. Might be a cultural difference and most likely a difference in the laws. If the event organizers are not liable for people's stupidity, they won't come up with helmet requirements...
