It's possible you got some bad gas. Your SA's advice isn't bad. Try filling up with a different gas. If the problem goes away, most likely bad gas. If the problem keeps happening, time to bring in the car.

I've never had a tank of "bad ass". That's an urban legend as far as I can tell. Also, I use Chevron 91 (which I believe is equivalent to 94 in Canada) and I have never had an issue with it.

I've had a tank of bad gas before... it had very high water content. Caused CEL and rough running. Got the tank drained/cleaned along with fuel filter replacement and refill and it ran like a champ. Gas can be "bad" to varying degrees. The Chevron 94 likely has 10% ethanol which can cause some issues too...

Take it in, they'll read the data log. I've had the idle control valve fail twice on me, and it had symptoms like that.

I've had my M3 since October and generally use Chevron Supreme Plus 94 and haven't had any issues ever this far. Ran around 6000 km so far. I think u should have it looked at. Also the Chevron 94 in Canada doesn't contain any ethanol, but all the lower grades all do. You could try a different gas station.
