OOC?
Hi,
Coming from a DI engine, along with many other port injection turbo cars...an oil catch can has always intrigued me and has shown great results. From searching for information regarding this for our V8s...how come it seems like this is a mod that not many, if any vendors support? Can someone shed some light as to which lines I can unplug to install one myself? I just really don't like my engine caked with oil after a few miles... |

OK, that is obviously an exaggeration.
Moving along, if you look at your intake and where there is a hose attached to it. Take it apart, and you'll see that there are some oil deposits. Any time I see any engine oil deposits around...it just doesn't look right. By emissions, I believe there is a PCV system that routes gases back somewhere. Once the gas cools down, turns back into a liquid...and settles somewhere in the engine. I would like this to be settled into a catch can. And yes, I drive a M3. I am fucking fast, and furious. |

A catch can would be beneficial. If you look at the intake elbow the PCV goes back into the intake for emissions purposes; if you vent to a catch can it will eliminate this. You'll need to plug the boot or get a new one w/out the adapter. Also it will fail a visual emissions test I believe. I think the OP description of caked oil is a little extreme; but it def would help w/ less buildup

I suggest that you get your engine checked out as something is not right if it is "caked with oil after a few miles". Nobody supports this mod as there does not seem to be a need for it -- I know my engine certainly does not get "caked with oil".

I've had my intake apart plenty of times on the M3 (40k miles now) and there is zero oil accumulation.
04 STi had some, 00 A6 2.7T was usually dripping. Not an issue on this car IMHO. |

That said, my manifold shows very little oil residue. It makes me wonder if this car has an oil separator.

Correct, but your still getting blow by into the intake tract. I would eliminate the intake setup altogether and just run the catch can. Better and cheaper yet, just run a hose from the PCV to the ground. |

You dont need an OCC with a port injection engine..just use good fuel..and a techron every so often
Not sure if the m3 uses cyclonic air/oil separators like the n54 |
